Hi, Sadi (non diabetic) has had a decrease in appetite for a few days (but still eats) & she just vomited food. No temperature, no sneezing, no discharge from eyes. Alert & active 11 year old. Any ideas?

Hi Nicole -

Have you changed her food recently? Some of my guys don't do well w/ the beef flavored Fancy Feast, while others have no problem with it (actually very happy to assist in eating it!).

Also, is she peeing and pooping? There was a recent post about blockages that some of the beans were dealing with. trying to find it. BRB

Thank you to you both for your replies, no change in food ... input/output good.
Something just isn't normal... maybe it is a "cat" phase.. we know how they can drive us loco nailbite_smile
I will keep an active eye on her.. just wondering what tests to ask for at vets when she is asymptomatic for the most part.

my first guess was nausea.
You know yourself that you can feel like eating but if you are feeling sick to your stomach, you may try but it may make you feel worse.
can you give some pepcid?

O my gosh.. thank you.. how much do I give? I will try. She is eating tonight....

Pepcid AC regular strength, 10mg strength

Cut each square tab into 4 pieces.
Daily max for a cat is 5mg, so I was giving Shadoe 1/4 tab at am and pm shot times.

She was always sort of gassy and nauseous and eating cat grass and being 'a fussy princess'.

Pepcid helped her

Nicole do you have a baby scale you can weigh her on or borrow one?

How long after she ate did she vomit? Any signs of nausea - licking or sniffing and walking away?

Give the pepcid an hour before food and be sure to chase with water. Pepcid can get stuck in the throat/esophagus and cause a lot of problems. You can get empty #4 gelcaps to help from the pharmacy.

If her appetite continues to not be 100% - assist feed with a syringe a food you don't need her to eat daily or baby food (pure meat - no onion or garlic).

Give her a belly rub from me.

Try using half of a pill pocket wrapped around it and see if she'll eat it without forcing the issue.

It is also possible ot use an oral syringe, stick the quarter tablet in it, put the plunger in, draw in some water, roll it around until dissolved, optionally add in some food to mask taste, and administer that way.

Thank you everyone.. I appreciate your replies.. her appetite is still not 100%, but she is eating thankfully.
Baby (Diabetic) is now not eating.. which leads me to believe they are passing something between them. I will call the vet when they open to see if I can get them something. Thanks again for your advice.
