Hey all,

Davis' numbers have been getting pretty low for his pre-shot tests and I'm wondering if we should lower his dose to .5 units? I've been out of town almost all month, so my spreadsheet is based on our cat sitter's testing. I haven't been home to do a curve in a while.

So far, if he's under 150 the sitter has been skipping the dose. If he's between 150-200 she has been giving him .5 units and if he's above 200 she has been giving the full 1 unit.

I could use some guidance. For some reason I just can't seem to wrap my head around understanding dosing. I have a Master's degree but there are days where all of this just seems so confusing and beyond me! Would someone mind looking at Davis' spreadsheet and letting me know what you think? Is he on the right track? Should we drop to .5?

Thanks!

Yes, I think you're heading in the right direction. It looks to me that a dose of 0.75 u (eyeballed) might be worth trying. The goal is to have two PSs per day that are high enough to be able to give insulin.

It is always safer to drop the dose a little for the petsitter. If you will continue to be out for a while yet, I would drop to 0.5 units.
