So, I am going to make a change to Sammy's insulin today. She just keeps rebounding. I need to decide whether I will go down to a drop, or if i will just take her off altogether and see what happens (per Mel's thought last night). All thoughts welcome.

Okay, no thoughts given, so going to give her a OTJ trial and see what happens. Fingers, paws, eyes all crossed.

Its worth a shot to see if this works.

An alternative, as I've suggested to Mel for Autumn, is to chase the numbers with a non-depot insulin, such as N (often available without prescripition, just ask at the pharmacy) or switching to a non- depot insulin such as ProZinc which is easier to microdose since it has only 40 units per mL rather than 100 units per mL like Lantus.

Options, not mandates.

Thanks. I am not sure there is any insulin OTC here in Canada, but I will check into it. If she doesn't do well on this trial, I was thinking of adding only a drop or so, see what that does.

I just have the strongest feeling that what I need to do is leave her alone and let her body do its thing. She has gained back her weight, the wobbly, drunk hooker in heels walk is gone, and she is happier than i have seen her in months.

Human grade insulins are available OTC in Canada. ProZinc will require a vet prescription, I think.

Good luck with it, hope she does well.

Agree with BJM, I think human insulin is OTC in Canada, to the best of my knowledge.
