DCIN Temporary Limited Intake Moratorium

Status
Not open for further replies.
Due to a shortage of people to help, DCIN is limiting its intake of new rehoming and financial assistance cases until October 1, 2011. Only emergency cases will be accepted, and perhaps even emergency cases will be turned away. The only case worker on duty during September will be Jennifer (Jennifer @dcin.info--remove space), and it will be in her sole discretion as to what cats, if any, she is able to intake.

For rehoming, I will ask Jennifer will give priority to cats that are at risk of being destroyed simply because they are diabetic. For the financial assistance program, I will ask Jennifer to give priority to cats whose caregivers are members of the Feline Diabetes Message Board (FDMB) or Diabetic Cat Care (DCC). Jennifer likely will not be able to undertake any fundraising efforts. If a case requires more than DCIN's available, unrestricted monies or the insulin and testing equipment that Jennifer has on site, she likely won't be able to help.

Any cats for which Jennifer or I already have received information are still subject to intake. I plan to have my backlog cleared up before I leave for a September vacation. Jennifer is currently up-to-date on her cases, although she is swamped. I would like to remind all people on DCIN's financial assistance program that it is not DCIN's role to advise you on treatment or dosage. We leave that responsibility to you (through self education), your vet, and the members on the FDMB and DCC message boards. We may give you initial advice, but please see the requirement on the financial assistance program that you become a member of one of those Boards.

All persons on DCIN's financial assistance program for which I am the case worker, please send me an email (at Venita @dcin.info--remove space) describing the nature of your assistance and whether you expect to need assistance before October 1, 2011. I plan to make my own list to provide Jennifer for maintenance during my absence, but if I miss someone, Jennifer may not be able to help you.

I apologize because I know this moratorium will be inconvenient for some, but people in animal rescue have lives outside of rescue too.

~Venita W, DCIN founder and case worker

Bump - also I sent you an email to see if you need some syringes from me and my friend with a diabetic dog.

BUMP.

I am signing off now. Must shop, clean, pack the next couple of days. You all take care, and may all kitties and their beans be healthy and happy.

Thanks for the donation,Joanna!!
