Humphry is losing his Mom.

The best laid plans don't always work out when the cat is diabetic. See Humphry's blog page here.

I invite the foster beans of cats on the DCIN adoption list to post updates about their charges on this thread. You may see new threads during the week if cats are added to DCIN's adoption or courtesy post lists. (The courtesy post list is here.) You also may see the foster beans post about these cats on Health and the Insulin Support Groups.

DCIN did add a new courtesy post last week for Gatsby in Oklahoma City.

On the previous DCIN Adoptable Cats thread, DCIN featured four shelter cats. All four have been adopted!! Dale is adopting BigBoy, and is anxiously awaiting the shelter's transport. Kiki already is home with Jennifer (Tucker's Mom) and has fallen in love with Jennifer's DH. Toby and Tommy are coming home to Don this Saturday, December 18.

Thank you Dale, Jennifer, and Don for opening your homes and hearts to these babies. Thank you SO MUCH.

That's heartbreaking.

Thank you for giving Gloria the peace of mind she needs now, knowing that her sweet boy will be cared for when she passes on.

Currier

Just found out about this boy. 6YO, 6.5-7U ProZinc BID, had been in a high-kill shelter since Tuesday. Surrendered because beans didn't have time needed to treat diabetes and because of "some" inappropriate urination.

I am trying to gather more data on him.

PetHarbor listing.

Isn't he gorgeous.

I saw the post on FB that you did on this little man, he is so handsome, reminds me of my sweet Misty(GA).

I received Humphry's vet records back to 2001. It is mostly chicken scratches and cut off dates, but here's what I can tell.

* Born in 1996. Gloria has had Humphry since he was a kitten.
* Humphry has been diabetic 1+ years. IDEXX lab tests 9/30/09--blood glucose level of 408 and vet diagnosed diabetes. Owner refused insulin due to cost and Humphrey was put on Glipizide, 2.5mg, BID, and DM (canned).
* Humphry is now on Fancy Feast classic pate and BCP PZI U100. He has a good appetite and PU/PD.
* Treated with an antibiotic for an ear infection in 7/09. He presented with scratching at his ears. This appears to be a continuing problem.
* 7/09 exam showed dental tartar. No dental procedure since.
* 9/7/10--Rabies Purevax 1 year and FVRCP vaccines. Renal functions per AnTech labs...BUN 40 (reference range 14-36), creatinin 1.8 (reference range 0.6-2.4) and urine specific gravity 1.026 (reference range 1.015 to 1.060).
* Humphry has a diagnosis of arrhythmia, but it has not been "appreciated" for some time.
