DAY 13 OTJ Trial for Norman 82 this morning

Norman is doing great for the start of day 13. I still the question my food choice for him as he is turning 10 years old this August. His kidney values have been fine. I am feeding Fancy Feast Classis TURKEY AND GIBLETS , carbs are like 3% and I love that but the phosphorus is 355...I get concerned on other cat food with high fat as Norman could stand to lose 2 more pounds lol......I switched all my cats to FF to not have any issues with Norman getting into something he shouldn't....Does anyone have further information on a cat food that would be beneficial to him ? I tried the Friskies Special Diet and all 4 cats snubbed it.....I have gone over Dr. Lisas canned food choices and OMG I just can't find anything ! SOme of the high dollar cat food is so high in calories and that started our problem with Norman. I had bought the cats Hills Science Grain free dry food and did free feed and that is when Norman turned into a heffernan....I can't afford for him to get heavier....such a loss with the phosphorus and I just don't have the knowledge of what phosphorus can do to my cats. I know the FF flavor I picked is one of the lowest of FF and I have to read labels cause if it has fish product NORMAN is allergic and barfs

I don't have any experience with it, but I know you can also get phosphorus binders that would allow you to feed stuff that's a little higher without the problems associated with it.

We use binders with Trix since she refuses to eat anything that is low phos and LC...the binder does help, although you have to be careful about using too much of it. The link Chris gave you is awesome.

I added Weruva canned food to our rotation after reading the phosphorus numbers on FF Classics. They have many low carb, low phosphorus, and low cal options. Henry likes the Paw Lickin' Chicken, and the Fowl Ball, Chicken Frick'A'Zee, and Goldie Lox from their Cats in the Kitchen line. All the nutrition info is on their website here. One caution: these are all shredded/flaked in broth, so if Norman is a die-hard pate lover, he might not go for it.
