Hi Everyone............Happy New Year and all the best for 2015

I've been watching the threads and seems like most are still doing well. Just wanted to update you on Davidson and let you know how well he's doing after being OTJ since April 15th, 2014.................testing is now every 2-3 weeks, some say do it monthly but I'd rather test when I want then to perhaps miss something. Testing usually occurs when I know I'm leaving for a few days, having company or if he see's that I'm not myself.

The real test was going away for my usual 3 week holiday over Xmas, as last year is when I returned and he was in bad shape.............I arranged a cat sitter for twice a day since he's on wet food only and set up cameras to keep watch (Thanks to Wendy for the info) and it was great to see he and Harley sleeping by the fireplaces, or eating when the cat sitter was there.

I arrived home and tested him, he was a bit high most likely due to the excitement of seeing me, but also perhaps because I was really upset due to a close friend passing away and both Harley & Davidson could tell I was distraught. They never left my side, and Davidson was really upset seeing me upset...........so I think that's the reason for the higher BG level.

All seems well now.........both are very playful and back to routine and Davidson is just GREAT.

I will NEVER forget the help and support I received from many of you who have been on this board for a while, or for the valuable information many of the people here provided in the various sections. I cannot stress how important it is to follow the protocol and to go out of your way to test often when your cats are in the early stages and getting regulated with the insulin. You MUST catch the highs and lows of the BG tests in order to find the right dose and to then be able to adjust the dose accordingly. This can only be done if you are there to test and see the levels each day...........It's not easy, it's time consuming, expensive for some, and overwhelming for most........but the rewards are there when you see your cat go into remission or make steps to getting better.

THANKS again to FDMB for all the support they provided and for the vast amount of educational material posted here that was certainly a BIG part in Davidson's road to success.

May your cats find their way to the Falls!
