hi,
I’m looking for feedback, help or experiences with side effects of Cyproheptadine.
I just got back from the vet with my Scout who was vomiting, not eating this morning-he’s had bad bouts of pancreatitis before, the vet thinks it’s chronic.
I’ve been treating him with Ondansetron and Cerenia daily, but the emergency Dr. today thinks this is a flare-up (there have been a lot of stressors in the home the past 2 months, family member hospitalized, then a lot of medical people visiting our home, so lots of stress!)
He is OTJ, today his BG was 117 so I was happy with that.
They sent me home with several meds including Cyproheptadine (1/2 of a 4 mg. pill) to stimulate his. appetite. Ever since I gave it to him, he’s acting like he’s starving and he’s making kind of a howling or yowling noise-he wants food on the hour!!
I don’t want to give him a reason to vomit, so I’ve given him very small meals about an hour apart.
Does anyone have experience with side effects of this drug?
Thanks for reading this far.
