Cranberry toothpaste

Hello. I found this toothpaste claiming to be more natural. Would this be ok for my sugar kitty?

Cranberry extract 30mg/ml, water, plant based glycerin , cellulose gum, yeast extract, potassium sorbate.

Contacted the company they just said the cranberry extract is mostly insoluble fiber and not transformed so not as sugary?

What's your opinions

Actually, you can do just as good if you just use plain old water with cotton gauze. It's not necessary to use toothpaste at all.

Cats in the wild keep their teeth clean by gnawing on bone, sinew, cartilage, etc....giving a treat of chicken gizzard, wing (cut up), kidneys or even just larger pieces of meat that she has to gnaw on to eat will help keep the teeth in better shape.

It's important to start out with a clean set of teeth in the first place though. Once the teeth have tarter, nothing is going to remove it other than a good dental.

Yeah he already had dental last year, and there is already tarter .

You don't have to attach your SS in your posts each time. It's linked in your signature and we can just click on that.

Garfield has been a long term diabetic. Diagnosis > 1 year.
Did he fall out of diet controlled status?
 
If your cat no longer needs insulin, because the BG readings are under 100 mg/dL (USA numbers) or 5.55 mmol/L (non-USA numbers) and the BG readings stay there for an extended period or forever in some cases, that is diet controlled. Also sometimes referred to as being in "remission" or OTJ, (off-the-juice, insulin being the juice).

When the cats pancreas has healed and may be producing enough insulin on it's own, with only a low carb wet cat food diet, that is "diet controlled" status.

Using the word "remission" is a misnomer. "Once a diabetic, always a diabetic."

Well he has never been diet controlled unfortunately :(

This is because you are using TR. Need to "earn" those reductions because long term diabetics don't seem to hold the dose reductions if you reduce too soon.

I only see 1 number below 50, and that was on 1/25/20. TR can be scary sometimes. Haven't looked at your posts over in the Lantus ISG, so didn't know the history on Garfield.

Quick answer is no, I would not increase - yet. No, I would not go back to 1.75 but I'd ask over on the Lantus ISG forum with all those experienced members over there to look at your SS and help. "when your cat starts to see nadirs under 100, hold the dose for at least 10 cycles before increasing." unless you get these conditions from the TR protocol - " long term diabetics don't get reductions until they drop below 50 three times or below 40 once."

Someone over there may say, yes but he's bouncing so we need to draw out the cycles a bit more to see the bounce clear.

You might think about updating your signature, to include why you are using a lower phosphorus food. If due to CKD, simply add those 3 little letters to your signature. Anything else that has changed too, that might need an update. That signature is our "quick peek" at what medical conditions your cat may have when answering your questions.

Getting really off track here from your original toothpaste question. But you did ask about the dose.;)

My insulin is also at 6months so im im buying new insulin today hoping that will make a difference! :) Thanks allot

Yes Im getting the pen refills because I have a 1/3 of my vial left and I have to throw it out now. He is beggining stage 2.

Yes Im getting the pen refills because I have to throw out 1/3 of the vial. He is beginning of stage 2 apparently. In Canada :)

There is a "labs" tab on the SS (spreadsheet) where you can enter the lab data. Add a column for the reference ranges for the lab you vet uses ( IDEXX, Antech, etc.) Then add a column for the actual lab values and the date.

You might change your signature to reflect the CKD is stage 2. So CKD IRIS stage 2 or something similar.

But in Quebec you do need a prescription. But yes the price is really affordable thank god! I have added some results in the lab column.
