First thing is this, I've been a bit off the last couple days with 2 shot times, and it seems to quickly be reflected in Trinity's SS. She was doing so good it seemed, then jumped into the 400's again, which she'd avoided for a little bit and is extremely rare for her that time of night. Bad me!

Obviously I've got to be more aware of her shot times and get them right, correct? Would just a couple days off like this create such a jump with nothing else really changing over that time?

Second, I've noticed the Sheba food to have a low carb count like Fancy Feast, and the ingredients seem to be mostly good stuff as well. Does anyone else here use Sheba for their sugar kitty's, and have you found it to be helpful in keeping the BG levels under control?

I'm mostly happy with where Trinity has been going lately, and now with the final transition to wet food only for both cats, see some light at the end of this tunnel!   I'm in it for the long ride, and am happy to say that overall Trinity's doing great, her appetite is voracious, and she's being the happy cat she always was!

The thing with the L insulins is that they are based on a 12/12 dose time so when you give early or late it will screw up the numbers until it is consistent again and the equilibrium is reached. Even when you know the shot time will be changed b/c of an appointment or meeting you can't move you just roll with it and know it will screw with your mind until it gets leveled out again.

Sheba- that is one brand I have never used but others on the board have. I haven't heard anything bad about it and there seems to be coupons around for them so that makes it a plus as this is a save where you can kind of board

It is great when we can see improvement in our cats behavior with the change and know we are doing very well and heading in the positive direction.

Yep with 14 kitties and 2 of them sugars I have used Sheba for my bunch from time to time and have never seen any difference with Autumn's numbers it is at least here a nice change of pace for the couple that only get Fancy Feast, as the rest of the herd is fed on Friskies Pate style canned food.

Shot times, yes, not being consistent will throw the numbers out of whack. But if you fix that, it'll straighten back out in a couple/few days.

The 2 things that you have to really put an effort into, are consistent shot times and consistent doses. The tiniest change in dose can make a difference. Being just a hair over or under the dose line WILL make a difference in most cats.

As for Sheba, I know there are some with good carb levels, I've bought a few, but feeding my 3, I can't afford that or Fancy Feast, so it's Friskee's Pate' for them. ( and they better be GLAD they got it! )

The way I see it, if I gotta eat PB&J, you gotta eat Friskee's! haha_smiley

Your entire post brought a smile to my face! I agree!!! If I can survive on the Wendys/Mcds dollar menu, so can they!

I swear one of these days I'm going to post my grocery receipt so you can all get a good laugh. ohmygod_smile $150 in cat food and litter ...$35 in human food... @-)

Mine is probably 50-50. Only half as many cats and peeps?

I got a bunch of the Sheba when they had those coupons on top.

Chip wouldn't touch the Sheba pate, he's still mostly a fancy feast snob.
