CORKY

Very Active Member
Good afternoon, I am really concerned with Corky's BG at this point, even though we still have 1 12/ hour before PMPS, could you please review SS and advise, please! I PM'd Suzanne but I have not had a response Corky's PMPS is @ 6:00 PM last two tests / 5:00PM 101/ 5:30PM 112

I think these are great numbers! You've shot as low as 124 and it was a lovely cycle.

As long as you'll be home, have strips, and can monitor, I suspect Corky will be fine. You seem to be having a panic attack but Corky will be fine! The only way you will get Corky tightly regulated or into remission is if you get comfortable with low numbers. I think I've said this to you before but I would shoot any number over 50. I didn't do that the first week, but worked my way down and built my confidence in the process.

Could I have a stand by ?? I shot as low as in the 120's he's insulin kicked in by 10PM now is by 8:30 9:00 and goes green, I have plenty of supplies I'll stay up all night if I have to / So guess what I just tested him and he's 127, how is that possible??? I feel again embarrassed! I get so out of shape when this happen s, how can he go from low to the right shooting range is beyond me, I will shoot , all his foods are from 0-4 % carbs he also has Medley Florentine with 10%, which one should I give him

Remember, he's close to shot time. The insulin from the AM cycle is wearing off. Numbers can spike relatively quickly or the cycle can stay flat or numbers can drop. Cats enjoy being unpredictable and you want Corky to be predictable. (Good luck with that!!) Also, he may be reacting to your stress level. There are lots of possibilities here.

I never think it's a good idea to give a higher carb food at shot time to simply boost the numbers. Feed Corky what you normally do. It gives you data as to how he's reacting to lower numbers.

You need to give some thought to what is the number you're willing to shoot. You want to be able to shoot progressively lower numbers so it helps to prepare yourself for when Corky's pancreas decides to produce a bit of insulin and the numbers are lower.
