Well, looks like it might be another one of those days...he's already down to 96 at just +2. I'm wondering, do any of you try to nip the low numbers in the bud by giving a little HC gravy beforehand? I'm thinking about giving him some now so he doesn't go all the way down again.

So far, this actually looks like a very nice cycle. Yes, he is moving, but not too dramatically yet. Personally, I might be inclined to give a little LC at this point to see if it slows him down and helps him set up a surf. I wouldn't bust out the HC just yet...but that's me.

A +3 test would be a good idea, too, regardless of what you decide to feed him.

I would try to feed a little each hour of the regular food. I would test at +3 and if dropping a lot I would try a little higher carbs. I'm still trying how to figure out how this all works myself though so take what I say with a grain of salt. I think it is trial and error until we find what works for each cat. Then when you think you have it figured out, they throw you a curve ball. At least that is my experience with Max so far since I started testing in January.

Good luck. I'll be checking in to see what you do and how it works.

Hi Amy and Trixiecat and Tiffmaxee,

Thanks for responding! He DOES seem to be having a good cycle! I just hope it keeps going! I can't tell you how nervous I am each time he's even a little bit low and I give him the normal dose. Always afraid of a replay of Saturday (when my husband was at the wheel). I've been giving him LC food, like you both said. I just checked him again and he's 92 at +4 :-D

Tiffmaxee, I've been at this whole diabetes thing for about two years and I STILL haven't quite gotten the hang of it, so don't feel bad! It's a really touchy subject. Like you said, when you think you've gotten it figured out, our little furries throw us a curve ball! cat(2)_steam I appreciate you checking in and giving your input. Every little bit helps, you know?

Excellent! I am sure that 19 startled the you-know-what out of you!!! But, you've got the meter and the food...that's a lot of power, even when they try their best to throw us for a loop.

Keep surfing, Corduroy!!

There's not one right answer to your question. I do agree, though, that I'd try some LC food since this isn't a dramatic drop. If you look at Gabby's SS (she is seems to really, really, like drama) it will give you a feel for what I do.

Hi Brigitte!!

I'm glad to see Corduory is doing so well. This looks like a really nice cycle and it looks like the LC is holding him steady which is great!

I know those low numbers are scary but your DH did a great job the other day. Just remember that you are in control as long as you are testing and managing the curve.

great to see Corduroy's cycle today! nice that the bounce has cleared!

tell your husband that i failed on the prediction (happily) that Corduroy would get to almost 500 before coming down. I'm glad i was wrong on that one! :-D
