HEre is copper's day. He was mostly a sleepy cat today, mainly because of the weather(rainy and cold). Looks to me like a flat day. Had to give the lower dose today because was not going to be around to watch him this afternoon. What do you all think? Do you think he is progressing? You thoughts greatly appreciated....

Lori,
Yesterday's AM cycle looked really nice. He got a good drop from that dose into the blue numbers. But, I think what happened is that his system thought it was just a little bit "too good". Sometimes when they see BG they haven't seen in a while (120 is the upper end of a "normal" BG range), what happens is that the liver "panics". It dumps glucose into the blood stream, sort of an automatic reaction to stop "hypo". Even though his numbers weren't close to "hypo", his body probably thought so. So today, what it looks like is that he "bounced" a little bit.
This happens to most kitties, especially when they get numbers in a different color like blue or green. But the more Copper sees those numbers, the less likely he'll bounce.

It usually takes a day or two for the bounce to clear.

267 is the lowest PMPS reading you've gotten so far. Have you given him his PM shot yet? Maybe it needs to be just a bit lower tonight based on that PMPS reading.

Not yet. I was about to give him the 1.75u. Why do you think it should be a lower dose?

Lori

Because yesterday he dropped 250+ points on a dose of 2.0 that worked well. I was thinking 1.5 on a 267 would work. Concern is that he drop 200 points which wouldn't leave much wiggle room. 1.75 could be okay too.
I don't want to "lose momentum" but thinking you may want to get some sleep and not have to be up all night worried about a "hypo kitty". Trust your gut though.

Thanks for the support. I went ahead and gave the 1.75u. I think he will be ok with that dose. Will see what the morning amps shows. Not sure if i will test tonight because he has been fighting the ear pricks all day. I will see how he is doing. Will try to get a urine check on him tonight or tomorrow. I little hard to do because he is a low squater and also goes outside during the day. He didn't today because such bad weather.

Hope to get him healed up soon!

Thanks again!
