Hi all!

Not sure if anyone that i know is still around. I haven't posted in so long. Been really hard to post this note. Cooper was diagnosed with FD in Nov 11' and we were on prozinc. It took a little over a year to get him under control and only on recently .20 units 2xday. He was doing SOooo good and his nueropathy went away, thanks to the wonderful advice on these boards. He was so enjoying this summer for the 1st time in years and laying around in the garden and hunting on occasion for a bird or mouse. He mainly was an indoor cat and i would let him out with his friend buddy(other non Diabetic) when ever i was around. They would hang around together in the garden. We live on 10ac and had plenty of space to roam, although never left garden. One afternoon beginning of July, i let him out and went inside. He was laying in the garden with the other cat peacefully when i left him. When i came out a 1/2hr later looking for him he was gone and the other cat was hiding under the shed. I called for him and he never came. I knew right then something was wrong because he is never too far from the hit of a can and he would come running. Silence.... I weep as i write this still....I looked until 1am looking everywhere on our acres. Nothing. The next day i looked all day and then called our neighbors up the hill from us and asked them to get their bulldogs inside so i could check up their way. She said sure. I went up to their yard, and there he was laying in their yard with his throat torn open. The american bulldogs were roaming that day and came through our yard and took cooper. They carried him up to thier house. I'm heartbroken that he died that way. He was such a peaceful cat and never was a fighter. He didn't even know what a mean dog is. We have a golden retriever and he used to sleep with her everynight. Just makes me sick that he died this way...The neighbors deny it and say it could of been any wild animal. I can't prove it, but know they come down to our property on occasion.

Cooper was a beautiful soul and I miss him Soooo much. My other cat is in depression too. He won't go outside and sleeps all day. He finally went out to the garden the other day and just layed in "their" spot. Then came inside to sleep.

I learned so much from this site and you all were so helpful to me. You helped me make Cooper's life so much better. I thank you and i know he does too!

God bless to you all!!

Oh Lori... so sad and frightening. I am so sorry you had to see this happen to your Cooper.

At the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, he will find his perfect garden and be laying there in peaceful, purring slumber waiting for you.

I am praying for your peace and comfort.

I am so sorry. Fly free sweet Cooper. You are much loved and will be sorely missed.

Lori, Once a member of FDMB always a member. You are always welcome here and to post, it doesn't have to be diabetes related. Many of our cats have other issues and we post about it and get help.

Don't feel that you can't stay here, you can, this is home and all are welcome. You can even read other posts and help out someone like you got help....pay it forward you know.

Wishing you peace.

I am so sorry to hear about Cooper. That was just so wrong. The same thing happened to my grama's cat, Nikki, around 1980. My uncle (who is just a few years older than I am) got this little tux for his mother. Nikki would go outside to do his business most of the time. My grandfather was one of 10 kids on a small dairy farm and they had an acre of the farm where my grandparents built their house. Across the street, the neighbors had a shepard that was kept chained up. Once he got off his chain and killed Nikki in a similar manner. I was probably 13 and refused to speak to them ever again. Thank goodness my grandparents sold their house in the fall of 1983. I couldn't stand looking at that neighbor's house, even though it was an accident.

May you find the peace that I could not, and know your baby is at the Bridge. Blessings to you. rb_icon
