Well, I did something last night that I haven 't done it at least 30 years-- slept on the floor. And no,I didn't pass out from too much wine!

Kitty and I had a PJ party-- well, not exactly a party, but you get the picture. I wanted to keep a close eye on her and she wanted to sleep in the den. I could have taken the couch-- but I decided I would rather snuggle with her on the floor. It was sleepless night-- we talked about the past and what a great life we have shared, said a few prayers and exchanged a few headbutts! It truly was a night to remember.

She wanted to eat this am-- but, still didn't eat all of her food. She did eat some raw meat I had-- (she likes raw!). There was no more diarrhea last night or this am. She seems brighter this morning!

Today seems better-- so, hopefully yesterday was related to the abs. I am calling the vet this am to get some pain meds

Hopefully she will eat better today. I will be checking for ketones-- whenever she decided to go.

amps-- 373-- shot 4.25

Hopefully the bgs will start to come down after the pain subsides and the abs clear.

I hope everyone has a Great Day!

Glad you and Kitty had a good, albeit sleepless night. Maybe you guys can snooze today :)
It took at least a full day for my two guys to look better after the dental. My civvie Alby looked horrible the first day and my guys are only 7, so half of Kitty's age. I am sure the ab's were a factor but also the anesthesia too. Here's to feeling better today and beyond! drinking24

THat is such good news!
Sorry about sleeping on the floor, but believe me, ben there done that!

Hopefully the vet will give you some pain meds so she can eat better..
but glad she is getting back to herself.

hope you both have a great day!

Been there done that before too-- but, about 30 years ago I gave up Floors and tents!!!

What a special time for you and Kitty (even if somewhat uncomfortable for you!).
Hope she will continue to not have diarrhea and start to eat better. The loose stool is probably related to abs.
It sometimes takes a few days for them to recover from a dental and if extractions and infection a bit longer I would think before Kitty is totally back to normal.
Hope both of you have a great day!

I understand entirely! I've done that too with both Shaikha and with my GA Tabriz when they were really ill and I felt I needed to be able to monitor them more continuously. I'm sure that Kitty appreciated your attention.

I really hope your vet can get Kitty what he needs to be more comfortable. I probably missed it in another thread, but did the vet give him buprenex for pain? That's what we use for Shaikha during her pancreatitis attacks and it works wonderfully, and it is safe too. Do not let the vet give you Metacam, especially since Kitty has has issues with kidneys. Hope Kitty feels much better soon!

Have you tried using probiotics, by the way? I've used a variety of different ones when my kitties have had issues with diarrhea or were on antibiotic therapy for a while. Proviable DC seems to work great (in capsules) as does Benebac, but I know there are others that people have said they have used. Benebac is what I used first and it is wonderful stuff. Proviable seems good too though. You can also try a little canned pumpkin (try 1/4 tsp) to add beneficial soluble fiber that can help bulk up the stools and feed good gut bacteria. Make sure it is plain canned pumpkin, not the pie filling as the latter contains spices.

Glad she is feeling better! If the stool problems return, I've had a lot of success with adding some acidophilous (sp?) powder to some food, works like a charm (if the a/bs are the issue).

I see that Kitty is probably nauseous from the antibiotics :( Have you tried giving a bit of Pepcid? That seems to help out a lot of queasy kitties around here. Straight Pepcid (not the pepcid AC). I think the dose is around a 1/4 or 1/2 tablet, but I'd need to do some searching in Health to confirm.

Kitty has been pretty quiet today, but she has eaten well. I just gave her fluids and the abs. We had one more episode of the yucky loose stools today.

I couldn't get up with the vet today-- but, tomorrow on the top of my list of things to do-- is to get Kitty some pain
Meds.

Negative Ketones this am and pm!!!

pmps 339-- coming down! I shot 4.2

Say yah! for no ketones! always makes the heart go flutter, seriously .... isn't it sad what makes us happy anymore? ohmygod_smile It is 1/4 of a 10mg. reg. Pepcid. Payne get's pepcid with her pred. 2x a day, we put them in a gelatin cap. then only have to give her one pill.
