Hello!
I'm new to here. I've been trying to find homemade food recipes for my cat. It will not be her main diet, but today she seems particularly fussy about her diabetic food (Purina DM canned), so I wanted to try to get her to eat something today. ((I also give her the dry diabetic food, but she doesn't seem too interested in it either.
I was instructed by our vet to not give her insulin if her glucose levels are too low when she doesn't eat (she is at 3 units as of last night).))
I don't want to do a raw diet and most of the recipes are for raw (even though I could cook it).
But also I am concerned about all the grain and potatoes and vegetables that these recipes call for (one even said to add spices like oregano and I did a big NOPE).
There are so many conflicting articles towards potatoes; most are positive saying to give cats sweet potatoes... and others against giving cat's grain and potatoes in food. So what's up with this? Why can't there be a straight answer?
So does anyone have any recipes which I can cook? Should I bake or boil the meat? What types of grain and vegetables do you feed your diabetic cat(s) (if any)? Do you mash it all together in a blender? Also I've mention this won't be a main diet, so would the absence of additional vitamins and minerals be fine for now?
Thank you so much to anyone who can help.
