conversion from u40 to u100 syringes

Hi, I am currently using u40 syringes for my Pro Zinc insulin. I am looking for a conversion chart that can help me transition to u100. At some point, I may need to be giving smaller increments of insulin. Also, when Sumo was diagnosed 10 days ago, I began reading everything I could on the board. I recall reading something about Bayer Contour meters, but couldn't remember if it people liked or disliked it. Does anyone have an opinion on this meter ?

Thank you,

Mary and Sumo

And remember, the TRUE DOSE is still the number of U40 units, NOT the
mark you draw to on the U-100 syringe.

If you feel comfortable (use a calculator) just do this simple math:

Number of U-40 units times 2.5 = MARK to draw to in the U-100 syringe.

For example:

1.0 units of U-40 insulin times 2.5 = 2.5 Mark on the U-100 syringe. (True Dose = 1 unit)
1.2 units of U-40 insulin times 2.5 = 3.0 Mark on the U-100 syringe
1.4 units of U-40 insulin times 2.5 = 3.5 Mark on the U-100 syringe
1.6 units of U-40 insulin times 2.5 = 4.0 Mark on the U-100 syringe
1.8 units of U-40 insulin times 2.5 = 4.5 Mark on the U-100 sryinge
2.0 units of U-40 insulin times 2.5 = 5.0 Mark on the U-100 sryinge

You can see that we work in increments of .2units of U-40 insulin (rather than
1/4 or 1/2 units ) and how conveniently those doses line up with 1/2-unit
marks on a U-100 syringe.

Thank You ! I did a curve on sumo today and will be posting on the PZI board later for possible dose adjustment. This will really help me, as I gave to much (1.5u ) the other day, and Sumo's liver dumped glucose causing elevated readings.

Thank You, Mary
