Continuarion to borg the gorb

Yes, but you had two readings of 78. I’m thinking that either the 78s or the higher numbers were false reads, but I don’t know which one. BTW, you don’t need to use the control solution before testing. you only need to use it when you switch to a new vial of testing strips.

Oh okay I thought i had to use it on every test strip but im glad to know i do not

I am so sorry I was sure that by George's preshot was having 279 he was going to have a great night, I an disappointed in the BG numbers after the fact, you must of fed too much high carbs. you will have bouncing this morning ,from the high numbers again, I do not give dosing advice and use ProZinc, still the next time George has a hypo episode, hopefully not, this is how to raise the BG without finding yourself with such high numbers and bringing George back to safe numbers you will need a HYPO KIT: SOME LOW CARB FOODS BETWEEN 0-10% (you already feed that) SOME MEDIUM CARB FOOD, like (Fancy Feast Medleys Florentine in a light sauce 12%) BETWEEN 11-15% SOME HIGH CARBS FOODS BETWEEN 16-24% -KARO SYRUP OR HONEY
since he was quite low last nigh, rubbing some of the Karo or honey on the gums,(lightly, some ats a very sensitive to carbs) would have brought George to safer numbers, if the numbers continue below 90, you feed 1-2 tsp of medium carbs, you wait 1/2 hour, re-test, if still low repeat procedure, if the BG still continues to spiral down, THEN you use the high carbs, with the same procedure 1/-2 tsp wait 1/2 hour retest repeat. high carbs, is last resort, too much of it will cause lasts night's high BGs, it takes about 1/2 hour for the high carbs to work
The Karo and honey are a quick fix, to stop the dive and prepare to feed 1-2 tsp test every 1/2 hour repeat.
It's ok, I did the same thing the first time Corky spiraled down the first week that was diagnosed, I was running around the house crying my eyes out, but I memorized this procedure given by a member that saved my Corky's life, she stayed with me from 10:00PM-4:30AM till we stabilized Corky with this procedure, he was being very stubborn and I was making him more stressed, that day I became a good student, so now I pass it on when the situation arises,
it will take probably another cycle to see better numbers, but again cats are unpredictable, they love to keep us on our toes, Good to know you had Mary to be there for you, You did great last nigh I am proud of you and George. Last night you graduated, a breeze, from now on ☺️ ;)🫶

I also spoke to the vet today over the phone and theyre sending a prescription in for a CGM for me to pick up at walmart today. Ill likely apply it myself using the forums guide

Just tested him. Hes 332 preshot
Good morning! it's expected there's still high carbs in his system, he's numbers will get better by early evening and then stabilize, before 1unit to begins to work, It's time for another thread we are at 72 , we like to keep them at 50, you can title it 2nd Continuation Borg the Gorg. and we will continue to attach the previous thread, You are doing great don't get discourage is all trial and error! the important thing is that you got George right back to safety

Im going to pick up the CGM once the vet calls me back. Should I retest george in +2?
It's always good to test 2 hours after shot, I'm pretty much OCD and even though he is tightly regulated I am terrible at obsessive testing, yes it is always a good idea to test two hours before two hours after shot, it take about 2 hours for the insulin to, kick in, this way you will have no surprises

Sounds good, itll be much easier with the CGM too but I heard its not very effective on the first day or two and strip testing should still be done

We need a new thread see post #72
The CGM 's sensor last 14 days, sometimes not, sometimes George might pull it off, (do not use glue, any glue, it irritates the skin) move it, it does has the flaw that any 2 digit reading needs manual testing, it does tend to read them much lower than reality, so you take the manual reading as value. remember I send you a post on this, and the guaranteed information, I believe is on your 2nd thread, here's the link
