Good afternoon, everyone. Quick question - Todd is constipated again. He's been on totally wet food diet since 11/22/14. He used to have this problem on certain DRY foods because of high fiber. Now he has no fiber on all wet food, but he has diabetes, so I don't want to mix in anything like pumpkin that will elevate his glucose. I see there is a cat constipation site, but I'm thinking about his diabetes first. Any quick thoughts? Thanks! PJ and Todd

If he is totally blocked, he may need an enema first, otherwise, pushing it through from the mouth end could result in GI tearing. Please rule that out first!

Plain psyllium powder, just a pinch, added to meals may help.

Or Miralax - in small doses, then titrate up as needed.

Feline Constipation will tell you more about the feline GI tract than you ever thought you needed to know!

Whew!! That's what I thought, the pie filling kind is full of sugar but just plain canned or homemade pumpkin/squash is good to go. ;-)
