So Seymour was diagnosed with diabetes and dka the same day after noticing he was drinking alot of water. After 5 days in the hospital we're home on 1.5 units of Lantus. He's certainly brighter than before he went to the er but his energy is still low and I can't get him to eat a full meal, so I'm just trying to entice him to eat several small meals a day which he just takes a few laps at every time. He is also on Amoxicillin for the uti he had while in the er, and Asthma inhaler. I'm also confused because since we've been home (3 days) I've only had to give him his insulin once. I have an Alphatrak 3 for his glucose and his readings have been in the 80-120 range. I feed him fancy feast pate, and some of the fancy feast gravys cause he's always like that more but he can't get through a full meal. He likes churu which he's been having most of when I check his glucose. I've tried fortiflora, im also giving him a small amount of Dr Elsey's dry kibble which he lightly grazes at. I scheduled a vet appointment and they said he looks like he could be headed toward a very fast remission. They also recommended me a anti nausea medication for him too. I'm so lost, I just got my boy back i don't want to mess this up. I just want him to eat a full meal, i dont know what to expect after dka treatment, he's been resting alot and his drinking of water seems back to normal too. Any help would be appreciated, I'm overwhelmed, but I just want to get this right.
