Confused about BG

Myrtle hasn't needed any insulin for the last couple of days (Yay!) as her BG has been under 150 but I'm confused about how BG works. I should probably know this but I don't think it's logical? So this morning, after not eating for 8 hours her BG was 128 (7.1), then after not eating for 4 hours her BG was 103 (5.7) and tonight after not eating for 5 hours her BG was 148 (8.2). I know things like level of activity affect BG but with that 103 reading she had eaten breakfast and went to sleep for 4 hours straight - no activity at all...... And I would think the longer the period of not eating the lower BG should be?? Am I missing something?

The only thing I can say is bg levels fluctuate. And meters have a 15-20% variance. There is essentially no difference between a reading of 128 and 148.
