Confused about +2 BG being higher than AMPS/PMPS

Is there a significance when the +2 test is HIGHER than the AMPS/PMPS? I know it's highly advised to get the +2 reading. Doodle is very often HIGHER at +2 and that's why I usually wait for the +3/4 to +7/8 (that seems to be where he is lowest. With his ear being almost scar tissue (the ear is such hard skin now) it's so hard to poke him and his other ear is near impossible to get the angle right. I try to limit the testing

The +2 tests aren't "absolute"....we've just seen that they can be a good indicator of what kitty might be up to later in the cycle, but the +2 isn't going to work for every cat.

When the +2 is higher than the pre-shot, it can mean they're starting a bounce, so those are cycles when you can usually plan on testing less often

When it's lower, that's your signal that they might be having a very "active" cycle so it's important to get more tests

If it's about the same, that's usually a "normal" cycle where they gradually go down, then gradually go back up to the next Pre-shot time.

However, since ECID, it's something you have to figure for your own cat. I think it's @Wendy&Neko that have found that the +3 is a better indicator for them

The saying is that if the +2 test is higher, then it'll be a quieter cycle. But that's where you have to know your cat. When Neko was on Lantus, I found that the +2 didn't tell me much, and a plus 3 was a better indicator. I guess she was a little later with onset. However, the exception to that rule was if she started in low blues, in which case the +2 was very important and she could be below 50 by +3. Try doing some +2 and +3 with various starts and see what it tells you. Some people have found a +2.5 is a better indicator of what the cycle will look like.

Max usually gets a food spike and I find that a +2.5 is the earliest that testing makes sense. If I want to leave him for a few hours I do grab a +1.75 or +2 to make sure he hasn't dropped.

I almost never tested punkin at +2. He never dove and the +3 told me what was coming next.

There isn't any rule about it, just tips for where to begin-after that, modify things by what you know about Noodle or Mikey.
