Here is Victoria:

And Henry. We changed his name as we kept referring to him as her:

Absolutely wonderful - they are lucky to have you. Zoe watched Henry get his belly rubs - she was right up to the screen watching. Too cute. cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon

They are absolutely adorable!

FWIW, I switch gender references with Gizmo and Gabby still and it's been 2 years. It drives my friends nuts 'cause they don't know who I'm referring to.

Oh my gosh! How absolutely beautiful! I think I missed a condo or two, I didn't realize you were getting two cats ... they look puuuurfect!

Victoria - 4 years old - has been at the shelter this last time since July 2010. Missing part of her ears from frostbite. She was at the shelter even longer as she was there for a while before that and adopted but returned after six months due to peeing out of the LB. She had a raging bladder infection and they didn't take her to the vet. She is very brave and silky soft. Loves exploring.

Henry was named Fergie but we kept calling him by female pronouns. We chose his new name Henry but he also goes by Love Bug. He's 1 year and 8 months old. He's been at the shelter since March 2010. He's getting comfortable. Meows softly and loves cuddles. He has bad mats and we have to take him to the vet to get them shaved off. He has a very odd walk. I really think this is lack of muscle tone from being so inactive at the shelter. He's loving to zoom across the recroom. He never got to do this at the shelter. He would have been beat up doing this in such a small space. He's quite nervous still and spooks very easily.

what beautiful kitties! I loved the video - what fun. You have taken in two very courageous kitties. It is great to think that they have a home now after being at a shelter for so long. Thanks for sharing their stories.

My goodness, what gorgeous, sweet kitties!!! The "belly rub" was just way too cute, and I love Victoria's ears...

Amy

omg, Henry has that blue spot on his belly that just screams "rub me here"
And Victoria, what a lovely girl. Already got the happy elevator butt going. Is she a black smoke?
(p.s. Butthead says ears are way over-rated)

Karrie, they are both so beautiful and very special! They look like they are getting adjusted and exploring. I love how Victoria was looking out the window and how cute with Henry asking for belly rubs! How lucky they are to have found you. Maverick is smiling with approval.

Karrie With a heart as big as yours, I just knew you would find some sweet Kitties who needed you--
And that Maverick would approve!! These 2 cats just Lucked Out with a Momma bean like you, in their furever Home--Giant Hugs my friend!!

that made me happy just watching them. loved the belly rub and nose to the camera. punkin was in a cage at the shelter for 3 months before i adopted him - and now knowing his skittish personality, i wonder how incredibly traumatic it must've been for him. your babies were there a long time - it might take a while before they actually believe they get to stay.

blessings on you for adopting adult kitters who needed homes. i always feel sad that people only want little ones and the older ones linger in cages.

and after almost 12 years we still call punkin "she" sometimes. he's kinda girly somehow! and he doesn't mind.

thanks for sharing!!!!

Karrie...it made me want to cry with happiness for you all. They are both absolutely beautiful and I can see in their eyes how happy they are to have their forever home. They look like they are adjusting just fine and I love how Henry rolled over for belly rubs!! Congratulations and many many years of happiness and love.

Too cute for words! I love Henry's new name. They both are gorgeous and look like they are feeling pretty comfortable in their new home. You are bringing light back into their lives after they both spent such a long time at the shelter. Can't wait to hear more updates!

Karrie, they are so beautiful! It is clear that they are just immensely happy to have a home. And they sure did luck out by getting a home with you, Patrick, and Nike. Thanks so much for the pics and the video. Looks like your house is jumping! Mav is keeping an eye on Victoria and Henry, making sure they adjust. Your condo made my day today!
Enjoy!!!

Ella & Rusty

soooo cute...Henry looks to be as big as Rocket and as fluffy as him too.....Victoria is a big kitty too...height wise....

i bet they're keeping you busy now!!!

i bet they're both bigger than Nike too ;-)

Those are two beautiful kitties! Congratulations. I love Henry's coloring, as I my civie, Miss Emily, is also a "cow cat". They look like they are settling in very happily.

THEY ARE JUST PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!! I am tickled PINK for all of you :-D
dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat

Henry walks funny because he is so freaking GORDO! He has the most delicious tummy (panza) ever! He is gorgeous! I think he also has too much hair between the paw pads. FUZZY FUZZY PAWS!!

I sound like a lunatic isnt?

Vicky has a very regal face. She looks like she is in charge    Love her tiny-fuzzy ears.

I'm so happy :-D

Nice :-D
WoW… Henry sure looks like he feels right at home… nice belly rub… cat_pet_icon

Victoria is a brave and pretty girl (cute ears) and she is an explorer… she seems to find the outside very interesting… ;-)

They are very lucky kitties who finally found their furever homes… :YMHUG:

You guys are the best. I admit its been hard coming in every day. I do love reading updates but it does make me miss Maverick so much more. Not opening a condo for him is hard. The grieving process definitely doesn't stop and there is no replacing him. Cuddles, belly rubs and talks do help refill the heart, but it doesn't stop me from missing him any less. I start my day off every morning watching his talking video.

Sherry - that made me smile that Zoe was watching the belly rubs. Give her a belly rub from me.

Barb - I responded with their stories right after you asked. I posted pics in case you couldn't watch the video :)

Sienne - good to know I'm not the only one who mixes him him/her she/he. I figured vets would be the most confused which was the biggest part in changing his name. We stuck to the royal theme that they had.

Devon - thank you. I wasn't going to get two cats. I was told by a friend that I should for their benefit in the long run vs. introducing a second one after one was all settled in.

Thanks Michelle. Their lives have definitely changed after so long at the shelter.

Amy, I agree :) Thank you.

MJ - I never thought of the belly spot screaming rub my belly. Now I do ever since I read that. I never knew what black smoke was but that describes her colouring to a tee. Like the tips of her hair is black but underneath its grey and you can see whisps of it more on her belly area. Thank you for describing her colour so perfectly. She thinks ears are overrated too LOL. Give Butthead a bellyrub for me too please :)

Ann she loves looking out the window and has claimed the cat post. Maverick would approve. I even think he'd love these two if he met them in real life. I will always regret not having a brother or sister for him.

Roni you are too sweet. I think we all lucked out. They will make me a better person with their love.

Julie I can't believe Punkin was there for that long. Goes to show that they are meant to be ours huh. He is so striking and he looks like a gentle soul. I think Punkin is so beautiful with his long orange hair I'd be calling him a she all the time. (I did a lot in the beginning and had to edit my posts constantly).

Marjorie - thank you! They are adjusting better than I ever imagined.

Thanks Blue :)

Georgia - thank you for the kind words. Their lives have both changed for the better. They are refilling my heart daily.

Ella - I wanted to reply to you about your heart being open to Rusty without ever having met him. That brought tears to my eyes (lots of them). I have found you and Rusty and inspiration from the day I first started reading about his road trip. I am wishing Maverick is happy and watching over us all. The house is full of activity now.

Thank you Natalia. GORDO LMAO! They both have fuzzy paws. Victoria is in charge. She will rule the roost here. I'm so happy too.

Claudia Henry is bigger than Nike but he's a big scardy cat like Maverick was. Don't they know they are bigger? Victoria is a wee thing. I'm going to have to weigh them both today.

Linda - cow cat describes Henry to a tee LMAO. I love his colouring too. Looking at the smudge right across his nose and that it looks like he has human nostrils makes me laugh. Like a viking/trojan/roman war helmet with the nose guard.

Caryl - nope. Even though they were in the same pen, they co-exist but no love between them yet. Thank you :)

Thank you Ronnie :)

Sylvie thank you. Sending hugs.

Ann - thank you :) I'm happy also and love her half ears too

Update on the new kitties:
Vet appointment tonight at 6:30. I was going to take them to the vet that we found last for Maverick. Going back there would be hard. But then the 45 minute drive was the biggest factor. We didn't have many options with Maverick finding a vet that would be cool with the protocol without knowing me or him. So we got a reference from a neighbor and will be meeting a new vet ten minutes away. I figure there will be ample time to impart that I am a knowledgeable involved pet owner and when the time comes that they need special care the vet will be more on board with alternatives if needed.

Fergie is just a little doll. She hangs out upstairs only. Seeks you out on her terms but now is rolling on the floor looking for cuddles and belly rubs. They say that she was a fractious cat there. I don't see that. She LOVES watching the birds and I'm putting seeds on the deck so she gets close ups. She loves playing with Nike's mini tennis balls. Last night at 3AM.

Fergie goes back and forth between being a cuddle craving shadow... to a complete scardy cat. He's always looking over his shoulder like something is going to get him. He must have been picked on a lot. He spent most of his time there lying on the top of a 2.5' catpost. No running or playing. He has bad mats where you even touch near them he'll growl and try and bite you. So he's getting them shaved off today. He has to get some muscle tone - he doesn't jump effortlessly or play much. He lumbers and jumps with effort and thuds LOL.

I feel like a new mom all over again. Cat proofing the house. I had to move Maverick's ashes to inside the book case glass which made me cry. My friend said it would be better than finding him all over the floor and the urn broken. I have to figure out something here.

And the dog has found the catfood so I have to buy a baby gate today to keep her away. I couldn't do this with Maverick's food as he couldn't jump and she was more agile than he was. Baby gate is so convenient.

Sending hugs for all of you. Thank you. Sorry I haven't been visiting as much as I'd like. As I said it is still quite hard. Grief isn't linear. Some days are really good. Some days not so much. And I've been doing my best to stay busy. The two new additions are making being busy quite easy.

Hi Karrie,
Such a nice report on your new furbabies. They sound like they are adjusting well and I hope, too, that they will become friends. Wishing you luck with the vet visit this evening.

The grieving process always involves good and bad days, and it is good to spend time thinking about Maverick. Don't be upset that you needed to put his urn inside the bookcase. He's with you and that's the most important thing.

Many, many :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: s

Ella & Rusty

Karrie, I second what Natalia said. Condo everyday! You are family!

I am so happy for your new babies, and for you and your DH. It's so heartwarming to see not just one, but TWO, beautiful loving kitties get a furever home.

yes, i'm all for a daily condo too. once a member of a cat family, always a member!

grief comes in waves. all you can do is ride them til they lose momentum.

love hearing the stories of the royal kitters! thank you for sharing them. i'm guessing you don't have kids - cats are much like it. you love each one for who they are, not in comparison to the others. one could never replace another - somehow our hearts are big enough to expand to love more! it's a wonderful thing.

Karrie
