You guys are the best. I admit its been hard coming in every day. I do love reading updates but it does make me miss Maverick so much more. Not opening a condo for him is hard. The grieving process definitely doesn't stop and there is no replacing him. Cuddles, belly rubs and talks do help refill the heart, but it doesn't stop me from missing him any less. I start my day off every morning watching his talking video.
Sherry - that made me smile that Zoe was watching the belly rubs. Give her a belly rub from me.
Barb - I responded with their stories right after you asked. I posted pics in case you couldn't watch the video
Sienne - good to know I'm not the only one who mixes him him/her she/he. I figured vets would be the most confused which was the biggest part in changing his name. We stuck to the royal theme that they had.
Devon - thank you. I wasn't going to get two cats. I was told by a friend that I should for their benefit in the long run vs. introducing a second one after one was all settled in.
Thanks Michelle. Their lives have definitely changed after so long at the shelter.
Amy, I agree

Thank you.
MJ - I never thought of the belly spot screaming rub my belly. Now I do ever since I read that. I never knew what black smoke was but that describes her colouring to a tee. Like the tips of her hair is black but underneath its grey and you can see whisps of it more on her belly area. Thank you for describing her colour so perfectly. She thinks ears are overrated too LOL. Give Butthead a bellyrub for me too please
Ann she loves looking out the window and has claimed the cat post. Maverick would approve. I even think he'd love these two if he met them in real life. I will always regret not having a brother or sister for him.
Roni you are too sweet. I think we all lucked out. They will make me a better person with their love.
Julie I can't believe Punkin was there for that long. Goes to show that they are meant to be ours huh. He is so striking and he looks like a gentle soul. I think Punkin is so beautiful with his long orange hair I'd be calling him a she all the time. (I did a lot in the beginning and had to edit my posts constantly).
Marjorie - thank you! They are adjusting better than I ever imagined.
Thanks Blue
Georgia - thank you for the kind words. Their lives have both changed for the better. They are refilling my heart daily.
Ella - I wanted to reply to you about your heart being open to Rusty without ever having met him. That brought tears to my eyes (lots of them). I have found you and Rusty and inspiration from the day I first started reading about his road trip. I am wishing Maverick is happy and watching over us all. The house is full of activity now.
Thank you Natalia. GORDO LMAO! They both have fuzzy paws. Victoria is in charge. She will rule the roost here. I'm so happy too.
Claudia Henry is bigger than Nike but he's a big scardy cat like Maverick was. Don't they know they are bigger? Victoria is a wee thing. I'm going to have to weigh them both today.
Linda - cow cat describes Henry to a tee LMAO. I love his colouring too. Looking at the smudge right across his nose and that it looks like he has human nostrils makes me laugh. Like a viking/trojan/roman war helmet with the nose guard.
Caryl - nope. Even though they were in the same pen, they co-exist but no love between them yet. Thank you
Thank you Ronnie
Sylvie thank you. Sending hugs.
Ann - thank you

I'm happy also and love her half ears too
Update on the new kitties:
Vet appointment tonight at 6:30. I was going to take them to the vet that we found last for Maverick. Going back there would be hard. But then the 45 minute drive was the biggest factor. We didn't have many options with Maverick finding a vet that would be cool with the protocol without knowing me or him. So we got a reference from a neighbor and will be meeting a new vet ten minutes away. I figure there will be ample time to impart that I am a knowledgeable involved pet owner and when the time comes that they need special care the vet will be more on board with alternatives if needed.
Fergie is just a little doll. She hangs out upstairs only. Seeks you out on her terms but now is rolling on the floor looking for cuddles and belly rubs. They say that she was a fractious cat there. I don't see that. She LOVES watching the birds and I'm putting seeds on the deck so she gets close ups. She loves playing with Nike's mini tennis balls. Last night at 3AM.
Fergie goes back and forth between being a cuddle craving shadow... to a complete scardy cat. He's always looking over his shoulder like something is going to get him. He must have been picked on a lot. He spent most of his time there lying on the top of a 2.5' catpost. No running or playing. He has bad mats where you even touch near them he'll growl and try and bite you. So he's getting them shaved off today. He has to get some muscle tone - he doesn't jump effortlessly or play much. He lumbers and jumps with effort and thuds LOL.
I feel like a new mom all over again. Cat proofing the house. I had to move Maverick's ashes to inside the book case glass which made me cry. My friend said it would be better than finding him all over the floor and the urn broken. I have to figure out something here.
And the dog has found the catfood so I have to buy a baby gate today to keep her away. I couldn't do this with Maverick's food as he couldn't jump and she was more agile than he was. Baby gate is so convenient.
Sending hugs for all of you. Thank you. Sorry I haven't been visiting as much as I'd like. As I said it is still quite hard. Grief isn't linear. Some days are really good. Some days not so much. And I've been doing my best to stay busy. The two new additions are making being busy quite easy.
