Hi Judy - A device like this is often recommended on the Lantus board for pilling cats and they are apparently just a few bucks. They look something like this:
http://www.vetdepot.com/Buster-Pet-Piller-with-Soft-Tips.html Someone found some on Amazon and called them "pill shooters" if you do a search on this site. You can put the pill in the shooter with a bit of water and the kitty will swallow the water and poof! the pill has gone down. Never used one myself, but they have drawn rave reviews from others on the Lantus board.
My little yapper takes phenobarb and my regular pharmacy compounds it for me with chicken flavored liquid and it is easy-squeezy to give. In my area, the big chain pharmacies won't compound, it is usually the smaller "mom and pop" places, independent pharmacies, with a pharmacist that is a bit older. Compounding in my neck of the woods seems to be a dying art.
Cold calling may give you the best shot at finding someone locally who can help you. Also, here in Tx, the physical therapy clinics use a medicine on the skin with one of their machines that must be compounded, so physical therapy clinics often know a pharmacist that compounds.
Wracking my brain to think of other sources for you, if I get a brain-wave, I'll come back and post again. Good luck. Try a google search for "pill shooter." Or try your PCP office, often pharmacies that compound market themselves to doctors and so occasionally a physician's office will know of a pharmacist that compounds.
