Can anyone help me. Cole 165Bg at PmPS. Now at 54Bg at +2. Should I start giving him
Syrup. I put down High carb wet but not eating much!

I never used Humulin N. I'm not all that familiar with it. It does hit fast and hard.

Even a bit of HC will help slow the drop. Did Cole lick the gravy from the HC? It's the gravy bit that's important.

Do you have lots of test strips, high carb food and syrup (and coffee)?

I didn't want to give him his whole dose but my husband wants to listen to the Vet!
$&(/(($(! Should I be testing every hour? At what point do I start giving syrup. He did seem to lick up the gravy just now.

Separate the gravy from the HC. Press down on the food with a spoon and gather about 1 tsp of the gravy. See if he will lick it up.

You don't want to fill him up this early in the cycle.

Then test again in 20 minutes.

Fantastic. To keep everything straight. The 78 is at +3? We need to keep track of the times.

Keep testing every 20 minutes. You want 3 rising tests in a row during which no food has been given.

I think you've just proved your vet wrong about the importance of testing.

We gave PMPS at 7:00pm. Last two test 78 and 73 just now. Went down a little. What do you mean change title of thread? I will post on SS

We are all in different time zones. The 73 is how many hours after the PMPS?

The carbs are wearing off a bit. Test again in 20 minutes.

Going by what's on your spreadsheet, Cole does not start to climb for a couple of hours yet.

Thank you.

If you go up to the top of this thread, on the right hand side you will see "edit title." Clicking on that will allow you to enter the most recent numbers after your original title. There is also the opportunity to put a question mark at the beginning of the title. That will bring more eyes.

If a cat drops below 50, or is dropping fast toward 50, then you use the 911.

High carb can take 2 hours to wear off, I would get a next test then, to make sure his numbers are up for the evening.
