I have not home tested for the four years Cody has had diabetes. I recently bought the alphatrak 2. I tested yesterday and today but both times were Within an hour of when his shot was due and his number was about 275. I know I need to test 5 hours after the shot. My worry is over the past few weeks his legs have been looking weak again. When he was first diagnosed had neuropathy for six months and then he got the use of his legs back. I still have some b 12 left but it is from 4 years ago is it still good? And if his legs are going again doesn't that mean he's not regulated? He is at two units twice a day. I am just feeling overwhelmed and I don't know what I'm doing wrong

Good job buying a meter. :):cat: Now you can learn soooo much about what's going on inside the kitty. When I was new to testing I found it to be very educational to look at the spreadsheets of others just to get an idea of what to aim for... So feel free to look at Radar's spreadsheet. There's a link in my signature below. I've found it to be a very valuable tool when I'm looking for patterns and trends. Let us know if you want help setting up your own spreadsheet.

275 is not that bad of a number. What the BG is after 5-6 hour after the shot is important.
If the B12 looks and smells OK I would use it.

Thank you. I placed a call to the vet and based on Cody's numbers he thinks it's most likely arthritis. Which I have no idea what to do for that

I just tested 6 hours after his shot and his bg is higher now. What's going on. He was 293 now he's 328

Adequan shots are supposed to be good for arthritis. Best if given IM but can be given subQ.

Mr b is on adequan but we've got so much going on right now i dont know if its helping or not. Unregulated diabetes and b12 deficiency it could be diabetic neuropathy that is causing my cats problem, but since he was dx'd with arthritis, we felt it best to give adequan as precaution. Its very safe. We do subQ at home cuz i dont know yet how to do IM. We just do a higher dose to make up for the lower absorption.
