Iv'e noticed a clear discharge coming out of Fritz left nostril the past couple of weeks.
Anyone experience this with their kitty?
I read about L Llysine wondeting if I should try this?
I noticed quite a few different brands and forms. Powder, pill, capsules which one and what amount. Or should I take him into the vet?
I read it could be viral, bacterial, allergies.
He also has started breathing different when falling a sleep. While hes awake sounds normal.

I know the pollen has been high in many areas. Is he sneezing a lot? Was anyone sick with a cold or flu I have heard cats can pick that up from us as well. If your on good terms with your vet call and tell them what is happening and he may just prescribe something without you having to pay for a vet visit.

No sneezing lately when he first started the drainage he sneezed a couple times and that was it.
Hes eating ,drinking, and appears ok except for the clear drainage and his breathing only when he lays down and starts to doze off.
I'm thinking its allergies were in Washington and the pollen count for grass and trees has been high.

You can try the L-lysine. I would suggest discussing it with your vet and going over his symptoms in case they want you to bring him in. My Jackson had a sneezing fit last week and I brought him to the ER on Memorial Day because I wasn't sure if he was coughing or sneezing (it seemed like a combination). The vet did an xray to see if it was asthma or heart and the xrays were "unremarkable". She suggested I give him some worm medicine for lung worm and bring in a fecal sample to test. $450. I gave him his nasty worm medicine for 5 days and then remembered that he had sneezing fits one year ago (so around the same time) and I gave him some L-lysine and he stopped sneezing immediately after.
Your vet might want to make sure nothing is up his nose. So I would ask for his/her opinion.

If it were draining from both nostrils, I'd think infection.
The fact that it is only on 1 side could mean much different things - obstruction from something comes to mind.

I agree, you should see the vet. If it turns out that he has a respiratory infection, the l-lysine will help in addition to the antibiotics. If you have more than one cat, give the l-lysine to all of them until the infection is cleared. Respiratory infections can be very contagious and the l-lysine will help reduce the chance it would be passed on to any other cats.

My cat had drainage from right nostril that turned out to be sinus infection caused from right upper gum/ dental infection. He was treated with antibiotic and had his right upper broken fang extracted. It was four weeks after dental extraction that he developed diabetes. All is under control now.
