Civvie with Diarreah

My 11 year old civvie, Tom has had diarreah on and off for approximately three weeks. He will have it one day, be fine for a few days, then have it again for a day and so on. He has now had non-stop since Thursday. I took him to the vet on Saturday. They did complete blood work and X Rays - everything was normal. I am just waiting for the results of the Hyper T test, which I should be getting today.

His vet gave him injectible cerenia, sub q fluids and gave me a 7 day supply of Flagyl....he still has the diarreah.

If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I am just completely stumped.

I think that I should also mention that his appetite has been okay since Sunday and he continues to groom himelf.

Some possibilities:

adding a 1/8 teaspoon of plain psyllium to the food may help soak up some of the excess fluid and make the cat more comfortable, though not fix the underlying problem.

using FortiFlora or another probiotic may help put in some good bacteria (which may get killed off by the Flagyl)

Some have tried a bit of plain yogurt with active culture

And if you are varying the food being fed, it may help to chart what was fed at what meals, along with when you observe the diarrhea.

If you always feed the same thing, it is possible that an intolerance or allergy has developed to an ingredient. Is there corn, wheat, or rice in it? What are the meat/poultry sources?

I'm having diarrhea issues as well but with Tidus (an FD). It seems he "bulks up" with Stella & Chewy's raw food but I can't feed that too all my cats and it's impossible to keep him separated from them to eat which is Friskies special diet beef and chicken. How do I know if/what allergens could be in that? From what you listed I only see "brewers rice' in the ingredients.

I thought psyllium (is psyllium husk the same?) helped move bowels? Like fiber? I'm confusing myself, I think.
