The only one that I'm concerned about at this time is one of her sons, Groucho. He's been pooping outside the box for some reason, despite the fact that the boxes are cleaned beforehand. I have tried countless times to get him to stay in there, and even have put him in there, plus put his poop in there, but to no avail. He still wants to poop outside the boxes. I don't understand, and I'm at my wit's end with him. I'm freaking out because the neighbor across the street will be taking care of him and the rest while Blackie's at the sitter's, and I don't want her to have any extra work if it can be helped. Any ideas?

MY WISH: For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For everyone to have great #s... For everyone to be OTJ.

I wish I had some words of wisdom, but don't. Our civvie does that when she is mad at us, which seems a lot anymore. :? I will be interested to see if anyone has any insight. Nice start for Blackie. Have a great day Angela!

Yeah, I'm interested to know if anyone has a problem with that, and knows how to fix it. I have 5 boxes that are always cleaned everyday (at least 8x or more a day), and I still don't understand it. I've been extremely nice to him, petted him more often, I give him a small taste of Blackie's food when she gets fed, he eats whatever's left over from Bubba and Scooter's dishes (they eat the Evo too). I'm not sure if he's picking up on our stress levels as we'll be leaving around 8 tomorrow morning to get Blackie settled in at the sitter's before we drive to the airport. I've tried to be less stressed, but this isn't helping.

Hi Angela, is Groucho part way in the box when he does the pooping? How old is he?

The reason I ask is that Mags sometimes pees outside the box. She's actually four feet in the box but so close to the entry that she pees out the box. For her, its her stiffness in the back legs after getting up after a nap. Groucho sounds like a young kitty though. Wish I could help more.

Groucho's going to be 12 this July 11th. I know that he has a bit of back leg issues, but it's not bad since he can squat in the box to urinate. He simply goes poop away from the litter boxes in other parts of the house.

I had a civie that avoided the litter box for pooping. She had IBD and any grains at all would upset her tummy. A switch to grain free food solved the litter box avoidance issue.

Is the poop hard? Maybe, it's painful to poop and the litter box avoidance is because there is pain associated with the box.
