My 6 month old civie's appetite has changed recently :?: He was eating 2 NV raw nuggets twice a day. About a week ago, after he took a trip to the ER for ingesting bathroom cleaner and had an upset tummy for a few days, his appetite changed to maybe 1 nugget in the morning and up to 6 nuggets at night ... if he doesn't throw up a nugget or two  And he kind of picks at the food, even if I crumble freeze dried raw on top :? The food is from the same bags as before the appetite change. Should I be concerned? Civie is being neutered on Friday so I guess I can ask the vet.

On a side note, my other civie's appetite is just fine. I finally got her eating NV raw chicken :thumbup And what a difference it has made in her fur coat. When I got her from the rescue, her fur was dry and sticky and rough. It improved slightly when I got her eating only canned food. Now that she's on raw, her fur is sleek and shiny and so healthy dancing_cat

I think it is good that he still has an appetite. But, as we all know, any change is good to discuss with the vet so glad you have an appt. later.
All I can really come up with it did he ingest the cleaner in the morning? Maybe that has put him off eating so much then because he possibly associates it? I am grasping I know. Good luck!

No, he ingested the cleaner in the evening and was taken to the ER soon afterwards because he started throwing up and would not eat his dinner. He had zero appetite for a few days afterwards (it was frustrated trying to coax him to eat. Was so worried about fatty liver) but then he ate normally for a day or two and then the appetite change happened. He once ate 8 nuggets in a single day  It's good that he is eating but he amount of food he's eating and the picking at the food even though he's hungry is worrisome.

So far today he had 2 nuggets for breakfast (had to coax him to finish and that took awhile) and 2 nuggets for lunch (he gobbled that down himself). Normally he doesn't get 2 nuggets for lunch because I'm at work and he gets canned food via one of the timed feeders but I'm home today.

The only things I can think of is he's a growing boy at 6 months and he's playing with his friend so much that he needs extra food to keep those (extreme) zoomies going.
