Hi there

One of our civies, Samantha , threw up this morning before she even ate. I was still asleep and was spared the clean up. DBF said it was some hair and liquid

Every time she ate today, in less than 2 mins it came back up, in a much more liquid state.
Once she throws up, there is no feeding her that flavor. On to the next flavor it is.
She wants to eat, she has appetite, The food just wont stay down.

She looks and acts fine - purry, lovey dovey, shiny soft fur, bugging us to let her go outside (she's not going anywhere).

Have any of you had a similar experience?
Thanks in advance

My little civie Delta does this vomit up all her food about once a week. It seems to happen when she needs to throw up a hairball. I've been trying to give her egg yolk lecithin which is supposed to stop the hair from clumping and let it pass through the digestive system easier. It's only been a week on this, so not sure yet if it's effective long term.

I can usually feed Delta a couple of hours later and she keeps the food down ok.

Delta is also prone to chronic constipation. She gets 1/8 t to 1/4 t of Miralax sprinkled on her food twice a day.

If she is getting impacted, no poop, the food has no where to go but back up the throat.

Hold off on making her eat for 24 hours to let the GI tract relax. If you have a bit of petroleum jelly you can put a pea-sized amount on a paw to see if that helps. If she goes 2 or more days without eating, it is a medical emergency as Feline Hepatic Lipidosis may occur and it can be fatal.

She could be constipated and might need an enema to clear that. Feline Constipation is a good site which explains all the ins and outs of the feline digestive tract as well as options for when it slows down.
