Hey all,

I know its been a little while. Busy as ever over here trying to find all these kitties furever homes. Still have Ginger and she is doing Awesome even though she is still looking for her true real home.

I have a question: I am fostering a extra sweet large (15+ lbs of mostly muscle) boy named Pishi. He is so sweet and handsome and loves everything. He is about 11 years old and has stiff legs which makes him lay in silly poses but that's not the current problem. My problem is I believe he is heavily allergic to pollen or something and over the last couple of days he seems to be getting more and more congested. I would love to give him something to help him feel better and breath easier. Is there any over the counter medications I can give this big boy and if so how much do I give him. I REALLY don't want to nebulize him. He is still eating very well dispite all the snot. PLEASE HELP our organization is having lot of finance probs with vets and if I could avoid the trip and use the money for another kitty I would be so grateful.

I have used benadryl in the past for a kitty with seasonal allergies, but I honestly don't remember the dosage. Perhaps someone else here can give you the correct dosage, or maybe you can just call the vet and ask. I'm thinking it was like a 1/4 of a 25mg pill but I don't remember exactly.

Mel, Maxwell, Musette & The Fur Gang.

My vet seems to think benadryl does not help kitties. I don't know. I have heard chlortrimeton helps(of course I have no idea how much). My civie with allergies has to have a shot from the vet every once in a while when her allergies get really bad. It is a steroid shot so I really try not to get it. Good luck!

My Midora seemed to have similar allergies, but my remedy was A/C. she wasn't as bad as you describe, she had the itchy eyes, and on occasion would scratch her cornia.
