I'm so sorry, Janet. This is always the hardest thing. I'm glad his suffering was brief, and that you got to say goodbye. He was a beautiful boy.

RIP, Zimmy. :rb_icon:

Yes. He was adorable with his little pink nose. He was the official caregiver to all of the younger ones.

What a beautiful boy, and so happy. You gave him a wonderful life. I know you and the other kitties will miss him terribly:bighug:

what a sweetheart. He had a long life full of love, but I know that doesn't help right now. My Angel sounds very much like Zimmy in character. He is like the dad to the younger ones. He's an amazing cat. When he was 8, within one year he'd lost his sister/littermate and his 2 elderly companions, and become diabetic and gone into remission. He'd gone from being the baby of the group to father figure of 2 6 week old kittens within 5 days. (after I lost Lianna, a friend took me to see 2 kittens which I agreed to have. Within days, Cera had been diagnosed with kidney failure and went downhill rapidly, I lost her on Angel's 9th birthday, 5 days before I'd committed to getting the kittens) The younger ones, now aged 2.5 and my Birman now aged 2 adore him. They cuddle up and he grooms them. This is him with Shakira. Hugs from me and purrs from my 4 x

That's how Zimmy was to the others. They all went to him for kisses, esp our two youngest age 1... Here he is with Luna.

that is so like my Angel and the younger ones. I'll post more pics tonight. Tears in my eyes now as I know how hard you are grieving for such a very special cat. I'll be on here again tonight x

It's obvious from the photos Zimmy had a good home, looks like the same nut house we live in. Try to take care of yourself this weekend Janet, you did all you could. Bye Zimmy.

Oh Janet, I'm so very sorry. The pictures really show what a precious and sweet soul he was. My GA Smudge, as well as all of our GA kitties, greeted him at the bridge. :bighug:

:bighug:Janet, I am so sorry to hear of Zimmy's passing. Please know I will keep u and urs in prayer for peaceful hearts in the middle of it all.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

thank you all... my heart is feeling pretty choked at the moment. I go from being at peace with it and looking at the bright side to sobbing ugly crying. My son is doing ok with it for now. he cried himself to sleep the other night when we tried to prepare him that Zimmy may not come home.

Never did it enter my mind on Wed when I brought him to the vet that he would never be returning home. It's mind boggling. I can't wrap my head around it! I thought there would be a medicine adjustment or something, but I was not prepared for him to leave us. I just can't believe it.

Hello Janet,
You have very kindly commented on my posts for Shelley and I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear this sad news. I have been through this myself in the past so I have some idea of how you must feel. You have my sincere condolences.

Ty I appreciate it. This heartache is unfortunately something that comes with giving your heart to a furry friend. A heartache that probably all of us has felt at some point.

Janet

Many many ((HUGS)) at this sad time. I wish I had the words to comfort you..but please know that we all understand the pain you are going through.

Janet,
I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. :bighug::bighug: Loving thoughts to Zimmy as he crosses over the rainbow bridge:rb_icon:cat_wings>o

Making arrangements for him on the phone today was really difficult. I got all choked up and couldn't talk. The woman was very understanding. Everything is reminding me of him... this is so so so hard. :( I can't believe he won't be carrying around his stuffed animals screaming to show me... or yelling at me to feed him... or going out in the front grass for some sun... or snuggling at night over our heads on the pillow.... or grooming the kittens (who aren't really kittens anymore). I'm glad he's not suffering, but I just miss him like crazy.

Janet, I know from past and recent experience there's nothing that can be said to take that pain away (although I wish there could) . I have pictures of my loved furbabies that have passed, around me and I look to them for comfort... albeit the feelings are so bittersweet. The love they give is so unconditional...
Janet, please know in your time of grief, you are not alone... I think of you and send you my prayers for comfort & peace. :bighug:

Janet, we all know from personal experience just how hard this is for you. It sounds like Zimmy was a real sweetheart. My deepest condolences to you and your family, including the 4 legged ones.
all the vets and techs at the animal hospital adored them. I spoke with my regular vet yesterday and told her what happened and she was just like "****! What the hell happened?!!" She was really upset. I thanked her for taking such good care of him... and she really really did. she diagnosed his high blood pressure about 8 months ago that was so high it could have made him go blind or kill him... I know she brought it all home with her because a few days ago she was like "when I was up in the middle of the night thinking about it, I thought we should test for _____ and try ________". She called me just as she was leaving for the day and was like take care of yourself... I said I was just about to have a nice big vodka... and she said she was going to open a bottle of wine. she really truly cared. I need to send her a little something or at leas a nice note to thank her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss!! Zimmy makes me think of my cat Tanner. I call him the "dad" to the others. They all go to him for baths. In my profile picture, you can see Rex is resting his head on Tanner to the right. I have the same worry about what the others would do when Tanner leaves us. He will be 17 in May.

:bighug:

I am sorry for your loss. What a wonderful and loved life he had. You did everything you could, and it was his time.

Fly free sweet Zimmy, and land softly.:bighug:
