So my sweet 16 yo boy Zimmy was really off today, so I brought him to the vet. His kidneys are crashing. He went from stage 2 ckd to 4 in a blink. He's staying at least two days in the vet and they will do iv.

He's the glue that hold my other cats together.... The caretaker of all of them.

Please pray for healing.... And if it is his time to go, that its not alone at the vet, but with us to say goodbye.

In so incredibly worried and sad. We've had him since he was 4 months old.

Sending lots of healing vines and positive white light to Zimmy

I'm so sorry to hear he's sick. Sending you and Zimmy a whole lot of healing wishes and thoughts.

Sending Healing Vines to Zimmy. I hope he gets better and is home with you, feeling much better, soon.

Oh Janet...know I will be holding you and Zimmy in my prayers, for healing and restoration .

I my has been transferred to a different animal hospital with round the Clock vets and specialists. Really it's not looking good though. :(

quite a bit worse. He was transfered to a 24 hour care hospital. his hct yesterday was 33. Just now it was 13. I told my partner I think we should let him go... she was just not metally ready to say yes. Plus our 4 yo was with us and we didn't feel he should witness him passing that way. we did all say our good byes and gave cuddles, and left him with one of the toys he carries around just in case it was the last time we saw him. we will sleep on it and decide tomorrow. In the mean time so he wasn't suffering we okayed a blood transfusion which is being done right now. It's so so hard to say goodbye. on the car ride from the first vet office to this one he was meowing a strong meow, even standing up.... and he continues to eat very well... eating anything they put in there with him. if he gave me a clear sign he had lost the will to live it would make this so much easier. my heart is aching. they are going to call tonight between 10 and midnight to let me know how the transfusion went. ultrasound showed no stones or blockages. One kidney was very large which could be infection or cancer.

He was singing his fight song :bighug:.

For one of my cats growing up, whenever we'd take him to the Vet she said one kidney felt enlarged and not feeling the other every single time (Figured she would've written it in her notes at least once). Towards the end we kind of figured he might have just had one kidney and it was larger because it was working alone. That last part was meant to be helpful but it might not sound that way :bighug:

Whatever happens Janet he knows now and always will know you all loved him. I wish peace for Zimmy, you and your family. I've been there many times and when I read this it feels like yesterday all over again. I really hope the sun comes up tomorrow with a little miracle.

Vet just called... He will need a few transfusions to get through the night. We will most likely help him to rainbow bridge tomorrow rather than let him waste away and suffer. She agreed he probably has a GI bleed somewhere. It's time. My heart is hurting so bad. IThe all happened so suddenly. I thought we would have him another year or more.

I'm so very sorry Janet. Such a difficult, yet loving decision. Prayers for a peaceful crossing.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you. They called at 2:45 am and said he was in distress. I went there and was able to be with him by 3:20 while he passed.

I'm grateful that I have no doubt it was his time, and that he only didn't feel well for a few days.

I know we should have done it earlier this evening but we just weren't mentally ready for it, plus my 4 year old son was with us. I'm glad he got to say goodbye to him last night.

((JANET)))

I am so sorry that Zimmy had to cross the Bridge. You certainly did everything you could for your baby but his poor little body was just worn out too much. The greatest gift of love is always the hardest decision to make, but now Zimmy is pain free and running with all the many GA kitties at the Bridge.
