Just looking for advice on how to treat it, lessen the affects, and possibly prevent future flare ups.

Currently giving cerenia and bupe as needed.

Thank you. We have been following the protocol as much as possible. I was just hoping that if there's something we're missing, maybe it wound be mentioned.

Fluids subcutaneously. You’re already doing the Cerenia and Buprenorphine. Ondansetron if you think he’s showing signs of nausea and if the Cerenia isn’t cutting it.

Unfortunately, my vet won't give us sub fluids or ondansetron. :(

You may want to consider a new vet. That's really not the best for Taz, unless there are other reasons he can't have fluids where it might not be safe to give fluids -- like a heart problem. Otherwise, sub-q fluids are an important part of pancreatitis treatment. I'm wondering about this vet. They also don't have pills and gave you liquid antibiotics with sugar in them?

Wow. His panc test was really high wasn't it. It's very hard to view those labs with it being so far over to the right. I always put the most recent to the left so they are easier to view.

There are some good things in his labs to be happy about like his BUN coming down from January and no ketones in his urine. Did he have an infection in January or what was going on? It looks like he has red blood cells in his urine. Did the vet mention this? This could be a sign of a urinary tract infection, but then it says that there's no bacteria in there. So perhaps it's just irritation/inflammation within the urinary tract (like FLUTD). Anyway, he's on the fish mox now so maybe that will help. Perhaps the Cerenia will help also since it is mildly anti-inflammatory. Too bad they didn't check his urine specific gravity while they were doing the urinalysis. It seems odd. You'd expect some of those pancreatic enzymes to be a little out of whack, so no surprise. I hope your sweet baby is going to feel better soon!!

Is there a way to make a spread sheet easier to read? Where it isn't so big for others?

There was a specific gravity listed bit I forgot to add it. I'll try to put it at the bottom later. The vet didn't mention anything about the blood in his urine, but the test said it's +2. I'll try to add that to the list also, if I didn't already.

Sara, how is Taz this morning. I'm stopping by just to check on him now and can't find your condo for today (if there is one?) I'm just concerned about you two and wanted to find out how things are going. I was hoping to read that he is a lot perkier today! Paws Crossed!

Thank you so much for thinking of us. Taz felt horrible yesterday. He didn't want anything to do with us, he wouldn't jump up on anything, and he was just overall miserable. You could see it in his face, his eyes, and the way he sat/laid. Today he is much more alert and a bit more active with grooming himself and sitting in the open. I'm pretty sure that his pancreas is bothering him because he's been in the meatloaf or parked out position almost constantly. He looked bloated to me this morning, so I put a call in to our vet. Right now we're taking a wait and see approach, as long as he continues to eat/drink and isn't having vomiting or diarrhea. He's already getting pain medication, and we're giving cerenia as needed. I don't know for sure that he was bloated, it could just be the way he's sitting and laying that makes him look like it, but with our vet being 45 minutes away, we don't want to put him through unnecessary stress unless we have to. I was going to increase his insulin, but with all the stress he's been through this week, I wanted to see what his levels would be once he starts feeling a bit better now that hopefully two broken bad teeth won't be hurting him. I also have jury duty tomorrow and can't be home to monitor him with an increase. It's one thing when I'm at work ten minutes away. It's another when I'll be 45 minutes away in a courthouse that I can't just leave. :(

Yep. You are right on all counts. Reduced stress is better for Taz's pancreas as well. Definitely you need to make sure he will not drop low tomorrow. And I see you are already planning for that. I am encouraged that he seems to be feeling better than yesterday. Here's to tomorrow (and him feeling even better, I mean ... not to jury duty.) Hopefully, you won't be selected to be on jury duty. I don't think they're going to give you a peremptory exemption because of your cat. I remember having jury duty in 2021. I was worried sick about Darcy at the time. He was at the vet though. I called to check up on him at lunch and needed to make sure I got out of there in time to drive to the vet before they closed. I couldn't get out of it, but I wasn't selected to be on a jury.
