Kitty must have stayed in the 400's all night.
AMPS @ 467. I get the feeling until I run out of the meds the swings are going to be all over the Place.
Went with .5u this morning.

My Christmas with for you is that the .5u gives Kitty a nice day and a shootable PMPS.

Happy, Merry, Joyous.

Merry Christmas Bob.

We'll see. Kitty has been running long on the .5u.
At least he didnt get sick after the antibiotic this morning.

Don't fret the numbers until the anitibiotics are finished!!!

Wishing for a great Day for you and Kitty!

Thank you.
Its starting to look good. +7 is 72

If it isn't in the middle of the night  , Sev, I would try to catch him in the 200s and give a drop maybe? Do you think that would take him too low? I hate to see him with such a long ride and going from the 500s to double digits. It has got to feel lousy....

That is what I was thinking.

Why, it might help stop the big swings and Kitty going without insulin for 12 hours every day.

20 min till 10:30.
I'll see how little I can give him.
Since its going to be so small should I give him any food. Last time I did with a small shot he spiked.

Rob & Harley said:
Given his steep drops I wouldn't shoot tonight.

I was talking about when you get a 300 or 400 PS try to shoot a .2u or .3u.

He is only at 186 @ +16
Looks like its going to be morning for the shot.

Hate to see those high am #"s.
Wish he would just level out. I have 5 more days of antibiotics to go. So its going to be an interesting week.

Sev,

Have you seen this info on giving drops? http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopi ... 24#p360982 If you could give even less than .2 and shoot (as long as he is rising) if he nears 200, it might eliminate the high amps numbers and the long surf. I know this is a little scary with Kitty as he gets so much from so little insulin, but the pattern of the long surf and the high amps isn't good either. The other complication is that the long surf usually ends late at night when it is harder to monitor. Wonder if we could change that up somehow? Is there a night when you could just stay up and catch him before he starts shooting up in the 300-400 range, shoot a drop and monitor?

It may be that you would want to wait to try something like this until he is off the antibiotics, but it is one more possible tool in your kit.

And you will probably post with a nice low amps this morning and make this moot.

I guess I could have shot what would have amounted to < .2u last night as he was moving towards 200 @ + 16.

Night shift??? Perhaps the weekend. I have contractors showing up at my site starting tomorrow so I def dont want to be dead on my feet. Things are starting to come together. Hoping to be ready to flip this house in another month or so.

I have been looking at the chart. .3 seems to be to little and .5 to much. I cant judge .4u on the u40's.

The link doesnt work Sue.

Have you considered using u100s w/ the conversion chart? If you get ones with half unit marks you can accurately dose in .2u increments and esrimate .1u increments. Can usually buy a pack of 10 for $1-2 to try out. I get.mine at WalMart.

I might have to.
Of course I have been avoiding giving kitty and daytime snacks when I am home. I could try to control his going so long by feeding him if I am home as well. Get him into a shootable range by the PMPS.

Amazing the difference in between today and yesterday. +8 is 217 and 167 point higher than yesterday.

He was on his way up @ +8 228. Now he is down to 197 for the PMPS.

Now what???

Hmmm. I seem to be saying that alot on Kitty's posts.

Well, that falls in the 20% variance so they can both be considered around 200. Did he eat somewhere in there? If so, it may be his pancreas working with the food. I wouldn't give any insulin until you are sure he is headed up, not down.....

We can't wait for the pancreas to wake up, but it can create problems figuring out when and what to dose.

True.
However the ReliOn I have been using is testing within 3 points on double tests. This unit seems to be more accurate than the OneTouch I have.
I am trying him on the Evo 95% tonight. It only has 2 carbs. 13.2 oz cans are coming out cheaper than the 3 oz fancy feast we used to feed him.

Well, Bah cause you can't shoot, Sev. But this is great news. Not so long ago, once the surf was done, he shot up. This has to be his pancreas helping out.

I had forgotten you were still using U40s. Time to switch to U100s and the conversion chart. Mini dosing is definitely in your future!

As long as you keep shooting .5u you will continue to get non shootable next PS's. That is the pattern that is becoming apparent.

You obviously can't shoot tonight. So no matter how high your AMPS might be (unless it is too low) I would only shoot a .2u or .3u, whatever you can eyeball and see if you can get a better PMPS tomorrow night.

Have to see where he is in the morning. Dam odd he is getting numbers this low so far in. Nadir @ +15??? Maybe?
