November was a pretty good month for her. She was feeling really good the first part of the month however towards the end of the month and into December the nausea returned.
I purchased some cat grass for her as the Pepcid A/C does not seem to have any effect anymore. Maybe she has been taking it to long?? Who knows?? She did enjoy the cat grass but it did not seem to make her nausea any better either.
She has pretty much started the lip licking every day. One day she did throw up in her bed. My DH said that she threw up once when he was baby sitting her and it was only the white foam.
She also started the new month out with hanging her head in the water bowl all day. So now she is plagued with both problems at one time instead of the usual one or the other.
Her BG numbers have been pretty good (mostly low 200's) and she is still getting 3 units of Prozinc twice a day. The one thing that is still good is her eating habits. No loss of appetite for her!
She still has cat dander really bad and her eyes now need cleaned everyday.
I started adding Burdock root powder to her food this past month to see if I get any positive results from giving it to her. It's a old fashioned country remedy for liver issues. I've seen no improvement as of yet but I figure at this stage what difference does it make. Nothing is making her Liver heal itself so far but anything is worth a shot.
She is sleeping most all day now but I'm still praying for a miracle!! ;-)

Amazing how you two have just kept keeping on. You are such a caring Mom to keep trying things for her. I am sure she has outlasted many liver kitties, but I know it must be hard. ((hugs)) Terri.

Hi there,Sorry that your kitty is having a rough go of it.My cat was having trouble on and off with nausea, and I had read a lot about bone broth being so good for people for so many things. So I started making it,and would give it to him over top of his food, which he absolutely loves, prefers it over water actually.( tap water can have a lot of chemicals too). Well,I remember that it also has glycine, which is supposed to be excellent for the liver. There are lots of recipe instructions online on how to make your own bone broth.I just made a batch with all the bones from the leftover thanksgiving turkey, simmered it all day long in my crockpot. You know it turns out right if it turns to jello consistency in refrigerator. All my cats go crazy for it really, and I know they are getting enough liquid in their diet, when I pour it over their food with each meal.It really seems to settle his tummy when he starts licking his lips and does not always want to eat.P.S....I usually put it in ice cube trays( those Teflon ones are great for easy pop out ) and after they freeze up,I put them into freezer containers and can heat them in microwave as needed.

So sorry to hear Chicken Little is feeling so poorly. I know how you feel, I battled kidney failure with my Angel, Ripley and would do/try anything that might help a little. He was with me much longer than the vets expected, so you never know, some of those home remedies do work.
I might get in trouble posting this here, but there is a website called www.earthclinic.com that has an amazing amount of natural info both for humans and animals. That's where I found out that apple cider vinegar will dissolve bladder stones in cats. My old female was almost completely blocked off and I was totally broke. I started putting ACV in her food and it immediately started 'opening' her up. In a couple weeks she was free of the stones and has been fine ever since. She had the ACV in her food every morning for breakfast for about 3 yrs and then I backed down to a couple times a week and she's still fine. She's pushing 20 yo. :) Been having the ACV for over 6 yrs now. :) I did find out, during the first few years, if I didn't give it to her for a week or 2, she'd get the stones back, hence the reason I did it so long and still give her a maintenance dose couple times a week. It's an amazing thing to know, I spent a fortune on a cat prior to her, due to stones. Now I know what to do for it. Fortunately she's a feral and will eat anything. I doubt if I could get the other cats to accept it in their food, but a lot of people put tiny amounts in their drinking water, building up over time, they just adjust to it. I'd use 1/4 can of cat food, 1 dropper full of ACV and a couple TBSP of water and mix it for her breakfast and never had an issue with her eating it.
Obviously, that has nothing to do with CL's liver problem, but you never know when that info or website may come in handy.

You and CL will be in my thoughts. :YMHUG:

I am in harmony with you on the ACV!! I have been drinking it for a few years now. I get mine at the health food store with the "mother" Since I have been using it myself I've cured a lot of problems with Acid Reflux and it also cleared up the Rosacea on my face. The Doctor was just amazed. I was using 2 different creams and taking medication for it and after using ACV for a while it completely disappeared and I use no medication or creams anymore.
A few years ago I did try and get my kitty and dog to take it. I never could get the cat to eat it and the only way I got my dog to eat it was to mix a little honey in with it. Even then he did not really want to eat it and it took forever to get it down him!! I did finally give up. I only give both of them filtered water to drink because I know how bad the chemicals in water can be to the liver. Everything gets filtered by the liver and those chemicals make it work overtime.
I appreciate the link because I am all about doing things the old fashioned or holistic way. Its not that I did not try any medicine on her Liver Failure first. I tried everything the vet said for me to do. It just did not work and both vets at the office said that I should think about saying goodbye but I figure as long as she is not truly suffering then I would continue to try and reverse the liver damage. It may be to late but I'm not giving up until she is to sick to continue on.
I have been reading and studying the liver and have been trying anything that will not harm her to see if I can get that liver of hers to start healing. She is taking a lot of stuff. Here is a list of what she is on so maybe someone could suggest other things that I may do. She was/is on Denamarin for cats however the whole time she was taking that exclusively I had cat scratch fever (yes it is a real sickness) not to mention it was hard to get it down her so I went to pure Milk Thistle because I can break open a capsule and mix in her food. I still give her a Denamarin tablet from time to time as well. She is also taking L-Carnitine, a teaspoon of pure pumpkin, CoQ-10 for cats, a probiotic for cats, salmon oil for cats, and most recently the
Burdock root powder. I also giver her a dose of Cosequin for cats a few times a week. If anyone has any idea for me I'd sure appreciate it. I do boil chicken and use the chicken and the water for mixing some of these into the food to get her to take them however I think I'll give the bone broth a try. I'm going to a marked next week to get some grass fed, antibiotic free meat and I'll see if I can get some bones from them as well.

Thank you Terri, at least you didn't think I was nutz! I did see on the site, where peeps started the ACV in the water bowl, just a couple drops to start, then slowly adding another drop over time, taking months to get to a tsp, but it seems their pets adjusted to it that way. Like I said, I was lucky, this old girl was not the least bit picky and will eat just about anything, although she has gotten a little picky since the change to wet food, no clue why. This is a cat that loved Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips!

Personally, I think you should try anything that you think may help your baby, after researching of course. As long as it can't hurt, you may stumble onto something that works, like I did with the ACV. My old girl would have died had I not found that website. I had just moved and didn't have 2 dimes to rub together and I figured it was a last ditch effort considering she was only passing 1 drop of urine/blood at a time and crying constantly. It was heartbreaking and I knew I HAD to do something. During that 1st 2 weeks she would pass blood because she was passing small stones, but once she was clear, it's been good to go ever since. It is recommended to use organic acv w/mother, but all I had was Heinz ACV in the cabinet, and that's all I used for her. Thank goodness for earth clinic. She'll be 20 in June. :-D

Heard great things about bone broth, I'd try it, can't hurt and it's extremely nutritional.

Hi Terri! Sorry to hear that CL is feeling bad. You are a great cat mom! Keep on keeping on...if CL isn't suffering, it's not time to say goodbye. You'll know when it is.

The ACV! I put half a teaspoon in my kitties bowls morning and night...they lap it right up! I am pretty sure it was Deb who turned me on to it. My babies had constant UTIs...still don't know why that started. But since we've been using ACV, we are good. Hope it keeps working!

I'll keep my ears open for anything that might help you Terri. I also send you tons of hugs!
