Good Morning from Diabetic Alley!
I must always start with my Girl.....Kitty! She threw me a 141 at her midshot last night, so I waited two hours and retested and she was 277- I shot 3 units and went to sleep! This actually was good--as it allowed me to change her schedule to my convenience for a day or two. She now is 8am, 4pm and midnight! Not bad!
Now to Chewy!
His SS is updated....I can't open it at work...but, it is close to +64 since his last dose. He was 131 before feeding this morning and 145 (something like that!) 1.5 hours later. I have been studying his SS and here is what I think. I dosed .3 into 182 and only got about a 50 percent drop. And, I have seen No green numbers at all! So, if you bank on the precentages of drop that he has had, you would think that he can receive a small dose at 150. I really think he needs some help. I have even shot .8 into low 200s and only got a 50 percent drop. I realize that the big question or concern is...does Mr. P show up when the numbers drop....creating more insulin than my dose. All of this being considered, if he is around 150 at lunch-- I am going to give him a small dose. I can be home and monitor-- and will!
I have been "practicing" small doses. I have "waisted" some insulin, by pulling it up in the syringe and pushing it out, so I can see what constitues a drop etc..... This is new for me, but I like new stuff! (convinced yet?!)
Thoughts?
