Hi everyone,

Cheekyface had her first curve done at the vet yesterday. Her numbers are still high but it's only been 4 days since dx so the vet says that's not unusual and not to worry too much at this stage, yeah right, sleep would be a nice thing!

I did a fur shot last night after getting her home, so that wouldn't have helped  This morning's was a good shoot though, so I'm trying not to beat myself up. I've watched various videos to check my technique and hopefully won't do it too often.

Tonight was also my first attempt at a home test, after watching 4-5 of the videos. Cheeky behaved beautifully without needing to be swaddled (I thought I'd at least try to do it that way first to see if she'd fight, because it will be the best way for both of us). I had her up on the kitchen table and everything went well, apart from getting no blood. My fault I guess, either her ear was too cool (it's very chilly here) or I completely missed the spot. I put her down, made a fuss and gave her a treat and will try again later tonight. Dinner followed 15 minutes later and I'm about to give her her shot. Wish me luck.

I'm encouraged by the fact she cooperated--now all I have to do is get my testing technique right.

The BG home test template is refusing to work for me but I think from reading the Tech thread that it's a Google issue and I'll keep trying. If all else fails I'll make my own and upload it once I actually start getting results to enter.

Can I have chocolate now...?!

A few things that might help - heating the ear was vital for us. And a big enough gauge lancet - 25-27 gauge makes a bigger hole. Good that she is cooperating and yes, treats are vital.

If you can't get the spreadsheet up, send me a pm. I can probably help.
