Cheapest test strips

I understand that the Walmart brand, Relion, has the lowest price strips. Someone will come along and confirm which model glucometer is the preferred brand - the one that takes the smallest drop of blood and the cheapest strips.

There are three Relion meters popular with members here. The Confirm and Micro both use reasonably-priced strips and require only a small blood sample. The Relion Prime has cheaper strips but requires a larger blood sample.

When starting to test it can be helpful to use a meter that only needs a very small blood sample.

The CVS generic Brand made by Agramatrix is the same as my Generic brand from a local store. Strips are about the same cost as the Walmart Prime. Strips take a larger amount of blood like the prime.

If you go with the Relion Confirm or Micro from WalMart, the meter is about $15 and the strips are $35.88 per 100 (these are the best meters for "new" ears since they take the smallest sample size)

The Relion Prime (also about $15) has strips that are only $9 for 50, but it takes a larger sample size (and some people have complained about getting a lot of error messages which means having to use another strip so it negates the savings)

I'd suggest going with the Confirm or Micro to start with....Once the ears "learn to bleed" you can always switch to the Prime if you want to

This Arkray Glucocard01 from ADW is the exact same meter as the Relion Confirm and would allow you to buy online if you prefer. The Arkray company makes the meters and Walmart puts their "Relion" name on it and re-sell it

Do the shut off automatically or do they give you time to get the blood drop onto the test strip do you want to have nail shuts off too quickly

I think most are active for 2 minutes after a strip is inserted. If you go over the 2 minutes you just pull the unused strip out and put it back in.

I've never had any trouble with mine shutting off early (I think Jane is right...it's about 2 minutes from the time you insert the strip) but it does, just take the strip out and start over....as long as it hasn't been used, it'll restart the clock!

I have the relion prime(the cheapest) and honestly it sucks the blood right into the test strip. i havent had a problem yet with testing the blood with it and im only 3 days into this meter testing.
