Chatran - Lantus Dosing Advice Needed

Hi Rosie,

I've posted a request for some of the experienced Lantus users to come help you with dosing advice. I don't see many people online right now, but hopefully they'll be along soon to give you some of their thoughts on Chatran.

Hang in there - we'll get this figured out! :YMHUG:

Hi Rosie, what I see on your spreadsheet is that you are doing a great job testing during the day, but aren't getting very many tests at night. We determine how to change the dose on Lantus based on the nadir or how low the insulin is taking the kitty. I see he's getting some nice low blues during the day but I don't see what's happening at night. Some cats, like my Neko, do the lowest numbers at night. Would it be possible for you do get a test each night before you go to bed? Or if your toddler gets you up in the middle of the night for something. With a couple more tests during the night cycles, we might get enough information to see what needs to happen with the dose.

Is Chatran still eating the dry food? Other foods I've seen Australians feed are the Whiskas Loaf style, Ziwipeak, or raw mixes. I saw you were feeding some raw food treats. Raw can actually help firm up the poops if kitty is having diarrhea. If he were to change to low carb food from the dry food, that would help the numbers significantly.

Hi Wendy,
Thank you! He is not eating dry much probably 5 kibbles for treat after needles. We would not eat pate variety no more at all only the gravy ones, I have stop giving him raw food as it gives him diarrhoea. I will try and give him whiskas loaf style. Ziwipeaks is not available on where we live but I have been giving him some food in jelly as well. When he was eating the pate it didn't change his bg number still high.
I will try and get his number at night before going to bed. I normally go to bed as soon as kitty done with insulin. I'm so knackered during the day with my 2 yr old. Hubby usually does the night shift with my 2 yr old but wouldn't test kitty
Thank you for advise

Rosie
