Chase' condition is "guarded". Prayers please.

The vet says he is more jaundiced today, so his liver is struggling. He did eat overnight quite heartily but they gave him dry. She didn't know what kind but he wouldn't eat the wet, only the dry. Not great for his diabetes but his blood sugars were still around 200 and the most important thing is that he eats. Depending on what is going on with his liver, he might not make it. They said I could send him for an ultrasound guided liver biopsy but she really was hinting that would only be to tell if we need to put him to sleep now. I'm going to let the treatment go a few more days and see if he can rally. Praying he does.

BJM - Can you give me some info about your comment - It may be helpful to give him milk thistle/Marin/Denmarin. If he rallies enough to come home from the vet I need the where, how much and how often please.

I have been very stressed today as I have a really bad feeling about this one. Don't know how much punishment the liver can come back from. But I keep praying. He's not quite 15 so should have a few good years. Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts.

Livers are miraculous at recovery. I had a cat with hepatic lipidosis and his liver was completely white (only 5% chance survival). He eventually fully recovered and lived another several years (passing on from unrelated kidney disease).

At the time (without being told his grim potential outcome till after the fact), I thought of how they do liver transplants or liver surgery in humans, who can then survive on only part a liver. I didn't know he wasn't expected to survive, nor did he, and we beat the odds.
