Ok... so there's something I REALLY feel like I need to do for ME tonight... something to help me spiritually. But it conflicts with the time that Chase usually gets his shot. If any of you can look at his numbers, and tell me... do you think it would be awful of me to skip the shot? I skipped it last Sunday, actually, because I was in Phoenix and I couldn't really get back in time (poor planning). He seemed to do fine. Would I be tempting fate to skip another evening shot?

Or... I could give it to him an hour late. I did that last night, by accident because I left the syringe in a place I couldn't see it after I tested him and got his food down. He actually had better numbers today. I'm not saying it's because his shot late.

I don't know... I'm just looking for opinions from people who know. :)

Sometimes you do have to skip an occasional shot - for yourself, for other reasons, etc. When Trix was on insulin, I skipped some shots so I could go see Bruce Springsteen (everyone here knows I am a massive fan)....she was OK, and it was good for me to do something for me. Sometimes you have to do something for you, so that you can take better care of Chase.

Thank you, Amy. I did something for me last week, for the most part. I could have rushed home to get Chase his shot in time but I went up to visit my son who I hadn't seen for a while. I didn't plan well and we wanted to see a movie together. So I stayed. I just don't want to be a bad mom, is all. :(

Everyone would agree here, IMO you could never be classified as a bad mom. Do what you need to do for you. Chase would want you too. Happy momma happy home. :bighug::bighug:

Thank you. :)

I wonder, though... since I'm trying very hard to get him into remission, and that needs him to be in the green for a week to even try... would I would be making a mistake, at this point, to take a chance on him getting a blue number, this evening. I mean... there's no guarantee he won't, anyway... but today is the first time he got all greens in the morning. Oh.... I'm so torn. :(

Absolutely do something for you! And it'll be an interesting experiment to see how Chase does on this dose without at shot. Think of it as data gathering. ;)

Thanks, Wendy. Well... he went without an evening shot last Sunday. Check out his SS and see what you think. :)

My grandson's name is Niko. :)

I would skip and go have fun. I don't think it will hurt him. He didn't even skip a beat last week.

We skipped to go to a golf tournament. :)

If you gave it an hour late last night, you should be giving it about the same time tonight (so an hour late!).....If (for example) you gave it at 8pm last night instead of 7pm, you should have given it at 8am this morning, 8pm tonight (or at the earliest 7:45am/7:30pm)

You can work your way back to your chosen time schedule, but we suggest only moving it 15 minutes per cycle or one 30 minute adjustment per day

I gave it an hour late last night, and then went back 30 minutes this morning. Unfortunately, I gave it to him 45 minutes late tonight. I didn't see any responses earlier (about skipping the shot) and I already gave it to him. Now I feel like a bad mom, again. Oh my. :( He's on a drop, so I didn't think it would hurt him. :( I'm so sorry, Chase. :nailbiting:

Oh heck....you're anything but a bad mom!!!

Look at how much you're worried about setting him back!!.....A bad cat mom wouldn't care!!!

And on 1 drop, you're almost to the point where you could take the insulin out of the refrigerator, wave it in front of his nose and put it back anyway!!

Don't sweat the small stuff ;)

Oh Chris... I really needed that chuckle. I sometimes care TOO much, and am a perfectionist. Which means... I end up beating myself up. :( And that does no good... I know. But for the most part, for 2 months... every day... I have been on time with EVERYTHING... every single day... being a single person who works full time and then some. I just want my boy to be healthy. :)
