We finally got the results of his urine culture. It was clear. No UTI. He's had many recent cycles back in the 300's for his ps both am and pm. Not sure what's going on. We are thinking he needs an increase but we don't want to do it when we aren't home to monitor. His weight has not changed, he's playful, and eating well. He isnt camping at the water bowl and his output is good. Not sure what to do.

Hi there, I'm kinda in the same boat. I have no advice on dosing but is there anyone you can train and recruit to get any test done during the day? (easier said than done) I've been fortunate to have the winter off and test, almost too much i feel. Also have a vet tech who does an extra midday test. I had two..... the other quit after I got home from a little vacation last weekend. She felt it was morally wrong to be hurting him like that. The other, she claims its a breeze. I'm back to work full time on Monday and am now a little freaked out about not knowing so much.

Does Charley go outside? Junior does and is quite the hunter. Im wondering if that's what is affecting him.

Charley has never been outside. Unfortunately, we aren't in a position to have anyone come in during the day. My husband is very against someone even coming in so we can go on a vacation. Just one of the things we will have to deal with. We will be home June through mid August and although I'd rather not wait that long to increase, we might have to. We were home all last week, so we were really sorry we had to wait for the culture. His vet keeps telling us he looks good, but I know he could be better.

Wow, really? Morally wrong? I don't enjoy being on either side of the lancet, but as a regular blood donor, it's just something you do. And you're not just poking him for the fun of it - that would be wrong... but by doing so you're helping manage a health condition that he can't do on his own.

I suppose it could be a matter of different approaches by the techs. Perhaps the one is more "get down to business", while the other tries to have a little "quality time" and helps him get comfortable before the poke. I'm sure the cat picks up on that, and I know Grayson doesn't always react like he does with me. That's why I'm working w/ my pet sitters to teach them how I do it, and give them a chance to try it for themselves before being left to do it. I know how long it took me to be able to do it!

Sorry the one tech didn't work out. Perhaps she could've learned something from the other one. It's good to have someone who can do it when you're not there.

With the lack of mid cycle tests it's hard to know what is happening during the cycle. If he is going low causing the PS's to be higher from a bounce or is he high and flat, we just don't know.

Can you get some mid cycle tests in this week?
