Hi everyone,

I'm starting school soon, and with T.C.'s current injection times (noon and midnight) I wouldn't be able to do a preshot test for them. I'd like to move it to around 8 or 8:30 AM and PM. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Yes absolutely! How long do you have until the new schedule needs to start? From what I remember, we usually adjust by no more than 30 minutes a day. I'm not 100% certain how to safely tell you do adjust, but I know it can be done! Hopefully someone with more adjustment experience can chime in! I myself need to adjust by 3 hours soon for a complete time zone change. Good luck- with the new schedule and also school :)

Using Lantus, since it is a depot insulin, it is safest to move the shot time in either 15 minute increments per cycle or 30 minutes per day.
You can do something like:
Thursday
11:45am
11:30pm
Friday
11:15am
11:00pm
Saturday
10:45am
10:30pm
Sunday
10:15am
10:00pm
Monday
9:45am
9:30pm
Tuesday
9:15am
9:00pm
Wednesday
8:45am
8:30pm
Would that work for you?

Thank you both!
That schedule works out great. The only day I wouldn't be able to do a preshot would be Monday and Wednesday morning.

Do you have anyone that can help you on Monday morning, or does that mean you would have to skip his shot on Monday morning?

I have someone to give his shot on Monday. I wouldn't be able to do a preshot blood test though. The latest I can leave the house would be 8:30 AM, so I can do a test about 1 hr and 15 minutes before the shot.

Can you teach that someone to test before Monday?
If you can update your spreadsheet with the latest data, I would post over in the Lantus / Levemir forum. The folks there know your insulin best and can maybe help you more on a daily basis. There are times, when you can shoot more than 15 minutes per cycle or 30 minutes per day, earlier, but only if the numbers are high enough, and I think the data would need to be seen to advise on that. Shooting early with a depot insulin can act like a dose increase. Anyway, I encourage you to post in that insulin specific forum, when you are ready.

Thank you! I will update my spreadsheet and post over there!
