I just recently picked up a few new cans of Merrick brand wet food. Specifically, Grammy's Pot Pie and Cowboy Cookout. Looking along the shelves of the store, I though I had spotted a new brand I hadn't seen before. Turns out it's a new Merrick label. The thing is I don't know if it's a different line of food or if it's replacing the old one. The original one had "Grammy's Pot Pie/Food for Carts & Kittens/A Five Star Gourmet.../with Chicken • Gravy/Vegetable Medley (3.2 oz)". And it's got a Low Glycemic badge in the top right corner. The new label says "Grammy's Pot Pie/Purrfect Bistro/Grain Free-Shredded/Natural Food for Cats/with added Vitamins & Minerals (3 oz). It wouldn't matter but they have a different guaranteed analysis. My questions are: has anyone else come across these, are they really different, and should I be feeding this to my cat?

I was told (and shown the new catalog from Merrick) by the owner of my Pet Nutrition Center that Merrick did not just change their label but changed their recipes. I don't know what the new makeup of these foods will be - we will have to contact Merrick. I am buying up all the old BG cans I can find. My sugar foster loves them.

Yeah we had a thread about it. I asked Merrick's about what their new nutritional information was and I was told that they wouldn't have it for several months (this was late June/early July). So I switched brands.

I accidentally bought the Purrfect Bistro Grammy's Pot Pie a couple of months ago. I use the regular 8% Grammy's Pot Pie as a numbers booster for Michelangelo when he's running too low for my comfort but not low enough to require a medium carb (~20%) food boost. I used the new one and it shot his numbers up so high, it was almost as if he were getting medium carbs. I don't know if it's lower carb than the original, but whatever carbs they do have in it seem to not agree with Mikey's blood sugar levels. (ECID and Mikey is really carb sensitive.)
