Hi I am new to this forum I have a 14 year old Siamese hand rear called Ozric he has been diabetic for about 4 years.Ozric is my own breeding i have been keeping Siamese for 24 years and breeding for about 18 years i had Ozrics mum and nan who I lost to old age bringing on kidney failure . He became diabetic due to a side effect of A medication for a infection on his chest. Since he has been diabetic he has never been very stable but we cope. The problem is Ozric has been on insuvet lente 100 iu/ml this has been taken of the market in the UK so I have now got him on caninsulin 40iu/ml the problems I am having is he is running high all the time and when i say hi I mean over 30 yes I know we have to keep upping the units till he adjusts the problem is every time I inject him his heart rate goes up and his right ear drops my vet has never seen this reaction before. Ozric has always had strange reaction to medication since he had his first jabs as a kitten but Ozric is getting on a bit now and this rapid heart rate is worry both for me and him. Ozric is my baby to the point that he still paddy paws me as he did when he was a week old he still trays to get in my top to fall to sleep listening to my heart as he always has since he was a tiny kitten can anyone shed any light on this reaction. Has anyone had to change insulin if so how long did it take to adjust can anyone help many thanks Rose and Ozric
