Cerenia dose timing question

Hi All

Leo and I are traveling for 5 hours tomorrow and I have Cerenia for his motion sickness. We've only used it once and he didn't barf. Directions say 2 hours before travel. My vet says it's good for 24 hours. I have two options: give the Cerenia 10 hours before the trip starts, or 30 minutes before the trip starts. I'd planned to do the 10 hours, but the prescribing instructions indicate Tmax is about 2 hours and the half life is only about 4 hours. If I give right before travel, he will be at around +9 in his cycle, so well into fasting.

Does anyone have thoughts or experience?

We use Cerenia tablets (1mg or 1/4 of a 4mg tablet) every other day for Zener's persistent tummy problems. Wish I had some answers for you but we have not used it for motion sickness. Usually when he takes it, he doesn't want to eat for a couple of hours. Safe travels!

Anne - well, that's a consideration, because I will have to shoot him on the road. If his appetite will be less (and it will already be decreased from stress), I wouldn't want to do anything else that would limit his desire to eat with the shot. I wish I'd thought about this earlier so I could preload him - I only have 1 pill left. Thanks for your experience - you have a valid point.
