Cedric vomited this am - twice!

He almost never vomits. I have had him 5 years and can count on one hand the number of times he has gotten sick. This morning, I opened a can of Evo Cat & Kitten for the boys for breakfast. Within about 1/2 hour, he vomited what he ate of his breakfast. Note, I gave Dallas (civie) some Wiskas cat milk to help "fill him up" and Cedric did drink a little of that. He has done that before, so I am not sure what's to blame on the vomiting. I gave more of the EVO to cedric and he immediately vomited it back up. Both times it was liquidated form.

I just gave him to Wellness chicken & herring. He seems to be keeping it down. I also made him take about 1/4 of an inch of Petromalt hairball, just in case there is a blockage.

What other products are out there that you give to your FD cat for hairball? I dfon't usually have a hairball issue with him - like I said he dosen't get sick. I am at my wits end this. am....have to leave for work around 9:15 this morning. Your thoughts?

Just waking up, so I may be incorrect here....But doesn't Evo Kitten have grains in it? Whereas Wellness doesn't? My one civie that is allergic to grain will turn into the Exorcist if I give him anything with grain in it, so could it be that Cedric is allergic to grain?

My friend thought maybe the food was bad, but Dallas ate the same stuff and no problem.
The cat & kitten forumla says "protein rich ultra low carbs no grain."
Turkey, chicken, turkey broth, chicken broth, chicken meal, herring, carrots, whole egg, salmon meal, natural, flavor, carrageenan, tomato flakes , cottage cheese....
The cans say best buy 11/2/12. He's eaten the food before so i can't figure it out. I am going to try another brand for a change. I did buy them some friskies a couple of weeks ago.

How about hairball medicine that is not malted? He doesn't get hairballs, but sometimes I wonder if this might be the cause of his rare vomiting? He must pass his hairballs (although I have a tendancy of brushing his coat, he loves that).

How is Cedric today?
I don't know about the food but both my Kitties vomit at times and they
always end up by getting up a hairball after a few vomits.
Even brushing doesn't stop them from getting hairballs sometimes.

He's been fine since then. Can't figure out why he got sick - never can when he does since it happens so infrequently. Dallas ate the rest of the can of Evo and he had no problems what so ever.
I am going to schedule an appointment for him with cjleo on thursday, mostly because I am worried about how he's acting around Dallas, but maybe she can get something out of his walnut brain about the vomiting episode. :smile:

I make assumptions that he might have a hairball jammed somewhere. He has had an enema or two in his life, but I have never seen him vomit an actual hairball. Worse case, I can always give him a little mineral oil.
